Joan Westerhausen Obituary

WESTERHAUSEN Joan Kneedler Westerhausen, age 76, of Findlay, Ohio, died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at her residence surrounded by the warmth and love of her family. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter and friend to many. Her sunny outlook was an inspiration to anyone in need of an uplifting word. Her heart and home were always open. Joan was born November 7, 1930, in Collinsville, Illinois, to Richard Guy and Clara Belle (Cohenour) Kneedler. Joan is survived by her loving children, Andrea (Chad) Russell, Woodbury, Minnesota, Eric (Stacie) Westerhausen, Conifer, Colorado, CeCe (Dennis) Zimmerman, Powell, Ohio, Sydney Campbell, Findlay, Sheila (Brad) Gillam, New Glarus, Wisconsin and Libby (Kevin) MacDonald, Findlay. Joan is also survived by twelve beloved grandchildren, Annica, Christian, Ande, Olivia, Sammie, Shelby, Ethan, Kendra, Carly, Greer, Ellen and Max. Joan was preceded in death by her parents and step-mother Grace Jersig Kneedler, her husband of nearly forty years, Jerry Westerhausen and children Joseph, Paul and Lise "Tutti" Westerhausen. Friends and family may visit Thursday, March 22, 2007, from 6-8 p.m. at the KIRKPATRICK-BEHNKE FUNERAL HOME, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay, Ohio. A Memorial Service officiated by Chaplain Mike Thompson, will take place Friday, March 23, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Joan attended Colorado Women's College and The University of Wyoming in Laramie and majored in art. She met her husband, Jerry, at The University of Wyoming. She attended St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, Westerville, Ohio, where she was a Stephen's Minister. Family members are grateful to Bridge Home Health and Hospice for their sincere and loving care of Joan during the past several months. Memorial contributions may be made to Bridge Home Health and Hospice, 15100 Birchaven Lane, Findlay, Ohio 45840 or a local chapter of the Special Olympics.
