John Boggs Obituary

Boggs, John
1934 - 2021
John Milton Boggs passed away peacefully on January 5, 2021. He was born on October 15, 1934, in Ashland, Kentucky, to the late Hugh and Nora (Wheeler) Boggs. He was a 1953 graduate of Ashland High School and completed the machine trades program at Ashland Vocational School, as did his three brothers. He played basketball for his vocational school team and had many fond memories of those days. In 1953, he married his high school sweetheart, Joniece Angel, and she preceded him on November 15, 2018. Along with his brothers, he founded Blacklick Machine Shop in 1954 before being drafted into the United States Army. He served at Fort Stewart, Georgia, where his son James was born in February 1959. After returning from the service, Milton worked at North American Aviation and continued to build his family business. His daughter Barbara was born in September 1967 in Columbus. Milton was a man after God's heart. He served faithfully at First Baptist Church Gahanna for many years and then at Jersey Baptist Church. He sang in the choir and served as a deacon and chairman of the deacons. He had belonged to the Lions Club and worked with Gideon's International in prison ministries. He also served on the Ohio Baptist Foundation for several years. His greatest joy was his family and he loved to share a meal with them. He never hesitated to tell his family how much he loved them. In addition to his parents and his wife, Milton was preceded in death by sister Ruth Boggs Davis and brothers Russell, Hugh Jr., and Gerald Boggs. He was also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Debra Boggs. He is survived by his son, James (Christina) Boggs; and daughter, Barbara (Christopher) Jacobs; granddaughters, Tabitha (Guillermo) Hernandez and Julie (Jack) Witt; and step-granddaughters, Ava and Katie Wandersleben. He is also survived by his twin great-granddaughters, Audrey and Nora Hernandez. Family and friends may call Sunday, January 10, 2021 from 2-5pm at Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 289 S. Main St., Pataskala, Ohio 43062. There will be a private family service, with burial to follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends consider donations to the American Heart Association or to Community Hospice, 1480 Carter Avenue, Ashland, Kentucky 41101.

John Boggs was my dearest friend for the last 45 years. I will always treasure every moment we had together. He loved my family like his own. A man goes through life and seldom finds a Christian brother and friend like John Boggs. He was the most godly man I ever knew. As we read the first seven beatitudes in the Sermon on the Mount, we discover John Boggs. He heard the words of Jesus clearly and patterned his life after them. My heart goes out to Barb, Jimmy and the grandkids as they grieve the loss of an incredible father and grandfather. I am looking forward to that day when we will meet again in Heaven.
