John Doersam Obituary

DOERSAM John "Bird" A. Doersam, age 62, passed away January 10, 2008, at His home. Retired from Ameritech after 38 years of dedicated service. Member of St. Mark Church in Lancaster. He was an avid drag racing enthusiast, car builder and a self taught welder and fabricator. Preceded in death by parents Arthur A. and Anne M. Doersam. Survived by loving wife of 27 years, Sandy; brothers and sisters, Patricia (Danny) Brobst, Dan (Kelly) Doersam and Steve (Sharon) Doersam; nephews, Steve (Shelly) Brobst, Mike (Amy) Brobst; nieces, Catherine (Todd) Kaufman, Misty (Richard) Shepherd; mother-in-law, Marilyn (Ron) Stone; sister-in-law, Cheryl Knight (Gary Barlow); long-time friend, Bobby (Bubba) Glenn; and a very special person, Kerri Phelps. The family will receive friends Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the MAEDER QUINT TIBERI FUNERAL HOME, 1068 S. High Street. Prayer Service 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Mass of Christian Burial Monday 10 a.m., St. Leo Church, 221 Hanford St., Columbus. Fr. Ted Thomas, Celebrant. Entombment St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Pilot Dogs INC or The St. Leo Preservation Society in John's Memory. I remember being at Gary Grcics garage with Bird, Gary, and Bill Sims. We worked on "Mr. Bisquick" building a drag car. I learned a lot from those guys! Gone but not forgotten.
