John Fox Obituary

Fox, John
John Bernard Fox, affectionately known as "Butch" by his family and friends. Passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 5, 2019, surrounded by family. He was 80 years old. Butch was born in Ravenna, Ohio on February 17, 1939, and settled in Columbus with his father and mother, and seven siblings. After graduating from Aquinas College High School, where he excelled in athletics, he enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in Reno, Nevada. His tour of duty was cut short with the unexpected death of his father. He returned home to help his mother raise his siblings. Butch met the love of his life and married Ann Capparuccini on October 10, 1969. For the last fifty years, Ann and her four children were the most important part of his life. Butch is preceded in death by his parents Michael and Florence Fox. He is survived by his loving wife, Ann; their four children, Gina (Bill) Raison, Nick (Linnette) Capparuccini, Maria (Dennis) Flynn, and Anna Capparuccini; his siblings, Michelle Alton, Kathy (Joe) Moreno, Becky (Mike) Wrigley, Mike (Debbie) Fox, Chris (Donna) Fox, Maggie (Jason) Nowland, and Jeff (Cheryl) Fox; as well as his 9 grandchildren, Amy (Mike) Traver, Nicholas (Angela) Flynn, Andrea (Brian) Danielson, Lisa Flynn (Tom), Kira and Desirae Flynn, James, Nicolette, and Dominique Capparuccini; and 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 9:30-11:30 A.M. Thursday, October 10, 2019 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1300 Urban Drive, Columbus, OH, where Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 A.M. Rev. Fr. Thomas G. Petry, celebrant. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 S. High Street, Lockbourne, OH. The family is very grateful for the care Butch received from Galena Manor and Capital City Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Galena Manor, 8160 Dustin Rd, Galena, Ohio 43021. Arrangement by Skunza Funeral Service, 5819 Emporium Square, Columbus, OH. Rudolph P. Dear Ann and Family,
As this sad day approaches, do know we remember. Butch lived a life full of goodness; he knew he was loved by you, Ann, your children, family, and so many more. And although we are miles away, rich memories of him, his gentle manner, and unconditional love, live with us.
The change of seasons reminds us of a life well-lived and forever remembered.
Thinking of you with love.

dear fox family,
i heard about john`s passing belatedly and
i certainly regret that. my best wishes and prayers are for you,the family.
i worked for a number of years with john at
DeSoto and sherwin williams and i considered
it such a privilege. john (at least at work)
was a rather quiet man but he had a huge
infectious laugh that always cracked me up.
i found it interesting that he was referred
to as "butch" by the family. we at the plant
referred to john as "Big Dad".
i remember when after i first started working at DeSoto when i turned 20 and
was a little awed by the whole experience,
and Big Dad took me under his wing and
explained things to me. kinda gave me the
lay of the land so to speak. it was huge to me that he took time for a young and some
times rattled kid and help him to adapt.
he`d always tell me it will be all right
and to just hang in there.
he wasn`t the type of guy that would
ramble on and talk to just hear himself
speak like some do. rather, john would
measure his words and because of that,
he was respected and listened to by
many. and his opinion on things mattered.
i missed john greatly when he retired
from sherwin williams. he left a huge hole
in my opinion. but he needed to move on
because i could very plainly see the toll
that his employment had taken on him.it
almost made me cry when i`d see him struggle
up the stairs to his work station. but,
as was john`s way, i never heard him
complain.
i`m sure i`ll think of him every now and
again and when i`m around former employees
that knew him, his name will come up.
rest in peace my good friend.i love
you Big Dad.
