He is the beloved grandfather to Courtney Marie, Emma Brooks, John Galvin Hines III (Jack) and Margaret Ellen Hines (Greta), Ellen Patison Hines and Elizabeth Hadley Hines (Libby) and John Hines Price (Johnny). John was the brother to the late Paul Henry Hines Jr., Peter Francis Hines, Leo James Hines and late sister Ann Marie Blute. He is survived by his sisters, Margaret Kierstead (Peggy) of West Roxbury, MA., Carol Gleason of Natick, MA and Dr. Mary Hines of New York City; sisters-in-law, Rena Hines of Falmouth, MA, Dorothy Hines of West Roxbury, MA.; brothers-in-law, Dr. Robert Blute, Sr. of Shrewsbury, MA., Leo Sullivan of Hingham, MA and Barry K. He joined Jack Nicklaus'Golden Bear Corp. in 1980 and helped manage more than 30 Memorial Tournaments, in addition to handling the 1987 Ryder Cup, 1992 U.S. Amateur, and the 1998 Solheim Cup. He was a partner at HNS Sports Group, an event management company, who was in charge of managing the 2013 Presidents Cup, last fall at Muirfield Village Golf Club. He was a member of the board at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital at The Ohio State University and President of the Jack Nicklaus Museum. John was a hard worker through his younger years holding many jobs such as peddling the Swan Boats in the Boston Garden, coaching high school football, Probation Officer, volunteering for numerous Boston political campaigns and his many years working summers at The Landfall Restaurant. John will be remembered for his indomitable sense of humor, quick Irish wit, unwavering loyalty to his friends (many of whom dated back to his days growing up in West Roxbury). We will always remember John at the Landfall in Woods Hole when we took our night off from working in Falmouth. Good guy who never forgot his roots and all the W. Rox. names and families. It
sounds like he left a good legacy. And somewhere we shared a good Galvin grandmother from Bandon,Cork. To Peggy Keirstead all our sympathies. John and Kathy Reardon , Plymouth, MA.

Sorry to hear about John's passing. We were good friends in W. Roxbury and enjoyed riding around in Jimmy Daly's convertible and hanging out with our crowd at Brighams on Centre St. We also spent a great amount of time at Holy Name Church. He was a great friend and true gentleman. Sincerely, Maureen Kelly Gannon

I knew John very well many years ago. He was a wonderful guy whom I've never forgotten, though it has been decades since last we met.

As an Ulster man I thoroughly enjoyed the many chats in Mary Kelleys about John's experiences golfing and visiting Ireland. His friendly and amiable demeanor will be sadly missed. Jimmy
