John Hummel Obituary
1939 - 2019
John W. Hummel, age 79. Born February 28, 1939, passed away January 15, 2019. Preceded in death by his parents George and Fern Hummel. John is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Fox; and his step-son, Wally Fox. John is also survived by his children, Holly (Rick) Dellacasa, Sherry (Rick) Estrada, Samantha (Lee) Newman and Bob Hummel; his brothers, Robert (Shirley) of Galloway and Jerry (Ingrid) of Las Vegas; many grandchildren and one great-grandchild. John spent most of his life on the west side of Columbus with graduating from West High School and attending Franklin University. He owned the John Hummel Insurance Company that was on West Broad Street. After he closed the insurance company he worked at the OSU Eye & Ear Institute. He was known by his fellow employees for remembering all of their birthdays. His kindness and kind nature will always be remembered. His ashes will be interred at the Upper Arlington Lutheran Church, Mill Run. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Arrangements completed at JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME with Crematory, 2693 West Broad St.

My deepest sympathy to Mary Jayne and family. John was the kindest soul. My husband and I shared many special moments of laughter with John. I especially remember hearing and seeing pictures of his birthday celebration in Key West, where he led a very special Birthday conga line. Rest in peace, John.
