Time passes so quickly. It's hard to believe it's been 10 years. I have happy memories of Joe and the time we had together as roomates along with my brother Jim. He was loyal to his friends, had a great sense of humor and was incredibly bright. He left us far to early but he is fondly remembered by all those who knew him well.

It has been several years now, but it still seems like yesterday I heard of Joe's passing. Joe and I were lifelong friends from Kindergarten and all through school and young adulthood. I knew a different person than the one I read about here. I knew the young man who always read, was a great athlete, and wanted to be a drummer so bad! We all came from humble beginnings so "drums" would be quite a luxury. Life went on and we grew apart, but were always "brothers" in many ways. It was strange, but Joe was in my dream last night. He is often. I guess he just stops by to say hello now and then. Miss him too much.

When I came to Honda as an outsider Joe took me in and taught me "The Honda Way" more than anyone else. We ate lunch together almost every day. I just learned of his passing and am saddened for his family and all who knew him. He was one of the few people I missed when I left.

In Memory of Joe, one our honored colleagues in the close-knit supplier risk community:

Joe flew high above the fray
Was thoughtful in every way
His client's best interest held to his heart
We could count on him to always do his part
For without Joe's steady hands and strong analytical stand
The group would quickly mire
Into deals less desired
A superb elder statesman with a voice deep and soothing
He would soon have us moving
Along the updward trajectory
Joe would always tell the story
How easy it is argue, much harder to find glory
In a finely crafted solution
This was always his contribution
Joe was fun and witty
We all enjoyed his company
He was supportive and complimentary
We were all so so lucky
To have sat around the table
With someone so kind and so wise
He made our days, months and years
Go as the crow flies
So straight and so fast
From one place to another
We miss Joe immensely for his sense, humility and laughter
Our lives are much richer forever and after.

With much gratitude to Joe,

Hi Kathy,

Just learned of Joe's passing while reading the Catholic Times, I am so sorry for your loss:( Both Mason and Rachel remembered your boys and Mason remembered Joe coaching him in some sport along the way!

God must have needed a new drummer for His Heavenly Band and knew Joe could do the job, may you find comfort knowing that Joe is at Peace entertaining the Lord.

I knew Joe only as a lawyer on the other side of a difficult deal. He was a gentleman of unfailing courtesy, tenacious in advancing his client's interest, but always willing to listen and always ready to work across the table to find solutions to thorny problems. They should make more like him. My sincerest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

To Joe, the peace of resting in the arms of our Savior forever.

I worked with Joe through TRC/ Honda. He was such a kind, down to earth man. Our recent conversation was about his son's college prospects. He mentioned UD as one of them and as a fellow Flyer it stuck in my memory. He was very proud of both of his boys.

I am so sorry for your loss. May you be comforted by your faith that you will be joined again one day.

What a wonderful family ~ I know you are grieving so deeply. I was one of Jake's elementary school teachers at Norwich, and even though that has been many years ago, I smile when I think of every single member of that sweet family. Luckily, your dad spent your lifetime making wonderful memories that will carry you through the difficult times ahead. My deepest sympathies to each of you.

I struggle to express how much Joe meant to me. My life was so much better because he was in it. He enriched my life, and the lives of so many others, with his wit and wisdom and gentleness. I consider myself lucky to have worked closely with him for many years at Honda, to have laughed so often with him, and to have come to know Kathy, Jake, and Philip, Joe's wonderful family. My heart goes out to them. They lost a wonderful husband and father and we all lost a special friend. Rest in Peace, Joe.

Kathy & boys,
Joe was my college buddy. I have so many wonderful and funny memories. Our small group of friends always got into mischief, and Joe, in a pinch was "the litigator" getting us out of hot water. He was a GREAT guy! He will be missed, but not forgotten.

Kathy, Jake, and Phil,

My heart is deeply saddened about your loss.

Joe was a good man. I greatly appreciated his unwavering support for the SC track program and his positive attitude about everything. I will greatly miss his smile and his "Hey Hos! how's the track team looking this year?" every time I saw him. I also enjoyed his efforts at trying to raise money for the track team with the date night parties for the parents with the Klatt Brothers and his support with the Mulch delivery.

I will always remember his attempts to get me to sing "Heart of Gold" by Neil Young. Even though I could not sing it very well, he always made me feel like I could. That is the way Joe was, he always made you feel like you did great without hesitation: always positive, Always smiling, always seeing the best in people, and always doing the best for people.

Take care Joe, Coach Hos will truly miss your "Heart of Gold"

Kathy, Jake and Phil my thoughts will always be with you.
Never be afraid to ask me or my family for anything

Sincerely,

Coach Hos

Working with Joe was always an adventure! He filled the room with his personality and leaves a huge hole in our hearts. I think we've seen every football video of his sons. (He talked about you two all the time). I recall the time Kathryn surprised him at work for his 50th birthday. He was proud to introduce her to all of us and his love for her and his sons was extremely evident. We are lifting your family in prayer and ask God to give His comfort to you at this time.
