I remember Mr. Muir from Mifflin Middle School, when I was in the 6th grade. He taught me how to draw trees and all kinds of things like intricate spheres and alot of cool things. He brought out the artistic potential in the people he taught, who never thought they had any artistic abilities.

He was a proficient artist and art teacher, he always wore classy , clothes and was one of the coolest teachers at Mifflin Middle School!

I had no idea he had passed away!
I now live and work in Boston, Massachusetts as a financial analyst.

But, sometimes, I start to doodle and draw things during my downtime. I was always interested in being a serious artist, but gave up on my artistic aspirations, for a business degree at Harvard University. But it's always good to reflect on my humble beginnings a child 40+ years ago! And Great teachers like Mr. Joseph Moore.

Joe and I were friends at West High School and have remained close for the past 35 years.

He was a special person -- and touched the lives of many people. He faced difficult struggles with dignity and grace.

He will live always in my heart.

I knew Joe from Capital when we both were studying to be teachers. What a kind, sensitive young man who could make you laugh, listened thoughtfully, and loved deeply. God bless his family and friends and may he live on in all the students he guided and mentored.

Back in our days, we called him Joe. The days of Westgate and Westmore. Joe was a member of the 1973 class of West High School. We will miss him.

Joel spent some time early on living in my grandmother's house, where I had the pleasure in particular of joining his Christmas parties. Joel was a breath of fresh air and creativity, radiated warmth and caring... we will all remember him for these gifts. Sincere condolences to his family.

I send my sincerest condolences to the Muir family. Abby and I will miss Joel so very much. He was a neighbor, friend, mentor, artist, and one of the kindest people I have ever met. He will be sorely missed at the Landings and with everyone whose lives he touched, which were many. I am so fortunate to have called him a friend.

Joel has been a friend of mine through the Parkinson Disease Support Group now for the last five years or so. He was a wonderful man and good to talk with. He truly cared about people and wanted to help anyway he could. I will miss him at every meeting and also at the weekly P.D. exercise classes he had been attending. I send my condolences to the whole family. I will continue to pray for everyone and I know he lives on in the hearts of all those who knew him. God Bless you all at this difficult time.
Sincerely, Maureen Patterson
