Josephine Lyons Jennings

Jennings Josephine Lyons Jennings transitioned into glory on August 12, 2016. She was born May 23, 1926 to Annie Mae Lester and Arsben Lyons, Sr. in Barnesville, Georgia who preceded her in death. On November 15, 1946, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Elder George Washington Jennings, Jr, who also preceded her in death. Mrs. Jennings worked for the Lima Public Schools for years; and the YMCA Day Care in Lima. She was a devoted pastor's wife at two churches where her husband was pastor for years in Paulding, Ohio and later in Lima. She was also a member of the Ohio District Council of the Pentecostal Assembly's of the World. She was also a member of the Ohio District Pastor Wives Association. She was a member of Grace Apostolic Church in Columbus, Ohio. Her greatest pleasures in life included being a devoted wife and champion to her husband's ministry; a loving, strict and devoted and intuitive Mother, great cook and Homemaker. Sister Jennings' life was dedicated to serving The Lord with her whole heart and with all the she knew; and she never deviated from her convictions after she received Salvation at an early age. As a result of her unwavering strict dedication to God and the church, three of her sisters followed her life's example into Holiness and received God as their Living Savior. She leaves a harvest of seven children to cherish her memory, Gregory Eugene Jennings of Richwood, Ohio, her devoted son who unconditionally loved and cared for her and where she lived, Gilberta (Steven) Henderson of Lima, a very devoted and loving daughter who helped care for her, and Arsben Dennis Jennings of Lima, Stan-Joseph Jennings of Atlanta, Georgia, three additional daughters, Margaret Elaine (Martini) Roberts of Chesapeake, Virginia, Jacqueline (Charles) Nimmons of Columbus, Georgetta Jennings of Lima; a step-daughter, Mary Ruth Lackey of Statesville, N.C.; 19 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Jean (William) Steward of Lima; and a brother, Ellis (Catherine) Lyons of Dayton, Ohio; three wonderful nieces who she cherished, Ida Mae Carder of Atlanta, Georgia, Thelma Edge of Los Angeles, and Patricia Alexander of Philadelphia; and a nephew who she has also cherished, Wesley Lyons, Jr. of Maryland; and a large host of nephews and nieces and other relatives. She is preceded in death by a daughter Linda Kay Jennings, a loving grandson Sergeant S.G. Jamal Tirik Clay, US Army who died on active duty, four brothers Wesley Lyons, Sr., Arsben Lyons, Jr., Roscoe Lyons, Rodney Lyons and Thomas Lyons. She is also preceded in death by six sisters Marietta Fletcher, Clora O'Neal, Dorothy Howell, Rosemary Spears, Lillian Hogue, and Margaret Whitfield. Funeral Service to be held Friday, August 19 at 11 a.m. at Grace Apostolic Church, 1743 E. Lakeview Ave., Columbus, Oh, 43224.
