Karen Shirkey Obituary

SHIRKEY Karen Sue Shirkey, 52, of Lockbourne, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 31, 2011, at Grant Medical Center, Columbus. Born October 8, 1959, in Columbus to the late Keith Smallwood and Estelle (Ruff) Smallwood who survives. Karen worked for CWA in Columbus. Survived by her husband, Ronald D. Shirkey of Lockbourne; daughters, Michelle (Kevin) Keller of Canal Winchester, Amber (Doug) Lucas of Columbus, and Katie Legg of Dublin; mother, Estelle of Columbus; step children, Barry (Chrystal) Harp of Grove City, Terri (Todd) Ehrie and Karen Shirkey both of Lewis Center; grandchildren, Grace, Emma, Trevin, Dani, Coen, Madison, Devien, Dylan, and Loralei; brothers and sisters, Casey Stengel, Kenneth, Kerry, Gary, Bobby, Danny, Roger Smallwood, Kathy Beck, Linda Smallwood, Trina Smallwood, and Theresa Ady; numerous nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Preceded in death by father and brother Raleigh Stengel. Funeral Service 11 a.m., Thursday, November 3, 2011 at the OLIVER-CHEEK FUNERAL HOME, 420 W. Main St., Ashville, with Rev. Ron Goodling officiating. Burial will follow in Fernwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Family request in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 929 Eastwind Dr., Suite 211, Westerville, Ohio 43081.

I love you aunt karen & its hard to believe you're gone... you were like a second mother to me...ill never forget all the memories we had together...especially the times you and mom had together. Thanks for being apart of my life. To my.cousins aka sisters shellbell, Barbar & katiebug I love you guys so much & always have...I am sorry for loss & the pain you have...for Ron, little K sue & Terri...I am so so sorry, I am glad she was in your life for the time she was..she loved you all & was so happy..we have lost an amazing person in this family but God has received a beautiful angel.
