Katherine Dowden Obituary

Dowden Katherine Elizabeth "Bettie" (Stroud) Dowden, passed away peacefully April 5, 2015. She was born July 19, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan. Bettie was preceded in death by her husband Richard Dowden, parents Gordon and Hazel Stroud, siblings Fredrick Stroud and Mary Lou (Stroud) Schneider, step-grandson Justin Hobbins. Survived by son, R. Michael (Aggie) Dowden, Farmersville, OH; Katherine (Steve) Toeller, North Wales, PA; Anne (Henry) Mazzella, Versailles, KY; Nancy (Marc) Hobbins, Reynoldsburg, OH. Also survived by grandchildren Aren (Jessy) Dowden, Aly (Ian) Cheadle, Nick, Megan, and Christian Toeller, Jake Mazzella; step-grandson, Bret (Sarah) Hobbins; great grandchildren, Anderson and Alexis Dowden, Darla and Rocko Cheadle; and step-great grandchildren, Liam and Lily Hobbins. Bettie was a life-long homemaker and member of St. Pius X Church, Olde Orchard Garden Club, Gahanna Art League, and the Central Ohio Diabetes Association. Friends may call at EGAN RYAN FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL, 4019 E. Livingston Ave. on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service at Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel, 11539 National Rd. SW, Pataskala, OH on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Central Ohio Alzheimer's Association or Central Ohio Diabetes Association. Many thanks to the staff at Lantern of Morning Pointe and Hospice of Blue Grass in Lexington, KY for their loving care.

Bettie was THE best neighbor ever. Once my family moved into the Old Orchard area, she made me and my family feel so welcomed. Bettie told the best stories and advice. I miss her warmth.
