Kurt Nye Obituary

NYE Kurt A. Nye, wonderful husband, dad and grandpa, age 68, of Grove City, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2005 at his home. He was born November 1, 1936 in Columbus, the son of the late Charles and Bertha (Hilderbrand) Nye. Kurt graduated from North High School in 1955 and attended the Ohio State University for two years. In the 1960's, Kurt joined the Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite, an activity he enjoyed along with his father. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Grove City. Kurt retired from the City of Columbus Division of Water after many years of dedicated service as an Engineering Associate III. Until three weeks ago, he served as a part time associate for them. Kurt was an accomplished woodworker and craftsman. To his credit he had completed countless woodworking projects such as home additions, furniture, carvings and a dulcimer. Kurt will forever be remembered as a true outdoorsman. His love of camping was a gift he shared with his family. Kurt is survived by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 48 years, Barbara (Woodruff) Nye; loving children, Richard (Chris) Nye, Robin (Robin) Taylor, Nancy (Steve) Patterson and Cathy (Guy) Williams; precious grandchildren, Nick and Kyle Nye, Ralph and Abby Taylor, Will and Wade Patterson and Neil, Audrey, Ellen and Baby Williams; and sister, Nancy "Karen" (Vernon) Ratliff. Calling hours 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the SCHOEDINGER NORRIS CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, where his funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2005 with Pastor James Moran officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in Kurt's memory. Please visit www.schoedinger.com to send email condolences.
