Lillian I. Findling

FINDLING Lillian I. Findling, age 84, departed this life on Friday, July 20, 2007, at the Pickering House in Lancaster, after an extended illness. She was born November 2, 1922 in West Virginia to the late Elisha and Floda (Westfall) Lott. During WW II, Lillian worked at Goodyear Aircraft and attended cosmetology school. After the war, she went to work for North American and on November 6, 1945, she married Harry Findling in Pomeroy, OH. In 1954, the couple moved to Greencastle, OH and have lived there ever since. Lillian worked at various beauty shops including JC Penny's at Eastland and was part owner of the Starret Street Beauty Shop in Lancaster, OH. She also owned and operated the Greencastle Beauty Shop where she made many wonderful friends. Lillian is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Harry; and her two daughters, Yvonne Beth (Randy) Bonnet of Marysville, OH and Cheryl Sue (Bob) Smith of Kingston, OH; one granddaughter, Ciara Nicole Smith; sisters Gathie "Dale" Riggs, Coolville, OH, June Carson, Fountain Inn, SC, Yvonne (Bob) Schirtzinger, Thornville, OH, Hope (Dale) Logston, Millersport, OH; brother, Oren Lott, Texas; sister-in-law, Helen Findling, Coolville, OH; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by sisters Carol Stalnaker and Virginia "Torp" Hawk. Lillian was a very special lady who loved gardening and quilting. Complete strangers would often stop along the road to admire and compliment her on her irises and roses. Her home was always filled with the beautiful blooms of more than 60 African Violets. Family and friends may visit Sunday, 5-8 p.m. at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 550 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Pastor Ben Foulk officiating. Interment Franklin Hills Memory Gardens.
