I remember him often as a very kind and noble man as well as one with a great sense of humor. What was remarkable about him was that the experiences of partition of India including a close shave with death did not embitter him a bit.

Knew him briefly in Chandigarh, when I was doing MA during 1959-61. I hit on his obituary while searching his bio/CV for a paper on History of Math in Punjab.

A very gentle man. Sometimes we would greet each other in German then he would tell a story from his days in Goettingen with Deuring, or an anecdote from the history of math.

Uncle will be deeply missed by his entire family in India. He was a remarkable man and source of inspiration for all of us.
