Maria was an outstanding, compassionate teacher, truly a natural born educator. She was a wonderful human being full of genuine warmth. It was a priviledge to have known her and share a classroom with her at Hilltonia Middle School.

While it is hard to lose a good friend and former teaching colleague, I know Maria is now at peace after her long struggle with cancer. I have many great memories of our trips to Mexico and Puerto Rico, with our Spanish students of Walnut Ridge HS (and often with our own children in tow). Climbing the pyramids of Uxmal and Chichen-Itza was always a fun challenge. I am so happy she made it to Nicaragua and her daughter's wedding--so the whole family was able to create some wonderful, long-lasting memories. Maria's love of the Spanish language and its many cultures was what made her such a great teacher and mentor. She will be missed by many....

I was so sad to hear of Senorita Agrelo passing. She was such an inspiration and great teacher. She will be missed by many.

Mrs. Agrelo was an amazing person. I was fortunate enough to have her in high school for Spanish. The Puerto Rico trips definately changed my life. I feel that way after 20 years. I was so glad to run into her and her husband last year. Lo Siento.
