THERE IS SO MUCH TO SAY ABOUT MOM AND OUR 65+ YEARS TOGETHER. SHE WAS CERTAINLY THE MOST SIGNIFICANT INFLUENCE ON MY LIFE AND LIKELY ME ON HERS. SORRY DAD AND SIBS BUT I WAS THE FAVORITE. SHE NEVER MADE ANY ATTEMPT TO HIDE THIS FROM ME. SOMETIMES HER FAITH IN ME PROVIDED THE ONLY FAITH I HAD IN MYSELF. MOM WAS STRONG WITH THE LORD AND ALWAYS TAUGHT US TO BE LIKEWISE, CAN'T SAY I NEVER STRAYED FROM WHAT SHE TAUGHT ME BUT I AM GRATEFUL THAT WHEN MOM PASSED SHE KNEW I WAS ONCE MORE RIGHT WITH THE LORD. MOM TOOK ME ON SEVERAL TRIPS TO CULVER AND MIAMI. ON THOSE TRIPS SHE TAUGHT ME MUCH ABOUT SHE AND DAD AND MY SEWARD HERITAGE. I REMEMBER EVERY WORD. I ALSO REMEMBER HER HOSTESSING FRIENDS, SPECIAL DATES AND ME IN HIGH SCHOOL. MOM WAS ALWAAYS A GRACIOUS ENTERTAINER. SHE AND DAD PROVIDED A SPECIAL PLACE FOR ME TO ENTERTAIN, BOTH FORMALLY AND INFORMALLY. I REMEMBER THOSE TIMES WELL AS DO SOME OF YOU WHO WERE GUESTS. IT WAS ALWAYS A THRILL TO TRANSPORT A CURRENT GIRL FRIEND OR HOPED FOR TO THE GATES OF WILDWOOD, KNOWING HER PULSE WOULD QUICKEN. THIS WAS ALWAYS MOM'S DOING OF COURSE, NEVER MINE. MY ONLY APPEAL CAME WITH THE BIG RED MACHINE. MANY MISSED THE BRM'S CHARMS AS WELL BUT NEVER MOM'S BELOVED WILDWOOD. SO, AS I REMEMBER MARILYN SEWARD COPPEL ON THIS DELIGHTFULLY SUNNY MAY SUNDAY, I SEE HER AT HER PLACE AT THE WEST END OF OUR DINING ROOM TABLE OR PERHAPS LABORING IN HER BELOVED GARDENS OR PERHAPS SHOOTING TRAP ON THE BACK PATIO OR HOSTESSING BIRTHDAY PARTIES TOPPED OFF WITH FIREWORKS OR DOING ANY NUMBER OF THINGS BUT SHE IS WEARING A SMILE AS ARE THOSE AROUND HER. WELCOME HOME MOM, I'LL BE SEEING YOU BY AND BY. FROM YOUR LOVING SON, JOHN. COUNT ON ME TO LOOK AFTER YOUR LOVED ONES MOM.

Marilyn was a great woman and a good friend to my mother. She had such a good sense of humor and lived her convictions to the fullest. My deepest sympathy to family and friends.
