I knew Mark when I was a kid and he was dating my mother, Julie. Mark was incredibly kind and fun. He was also an excellent cook. I have nothing but fond memories of him and the fun we had and that he inspired. He was the architect of my 7th birthday, which was at a Max & Erma's, and included unlimited sundaes, video games, and pinball. I and my friends had a blast and I still count it (even at 41) as one of my favorite birthdays. Mark was so vibrant and kind. Now that I am the age he was when he knew me, I appreciate even more how well he related to me and how good he was at sharing all the cool stuff in life with a child. The world is poorer without him in it.

I knew something was wrong when Mark's ebay listing went dormant.. Mark was always willing to help and educate me in the field of golf
antiques. I feel like I knew Mark through my eBay purchases, emails
and phone calls.
Rest In Peace my friend,
Colin

Met Mark about 30 years ago here in Columbus. Was amazed at his love of golf history. Was fortunate enough to have Mark show me his extensive collection. His love of golf especially the Ryder Cup was outstanding.
Mark was a true gentleman. Thanks for being a great person.
God bless. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

Mark and I grew up together and were fierce competitors on the golf course in our very early years. After 50 years of not seeing each other we found time to get together for 18 holes and also took in a Tampa Bay Rays v Red Sox game the next day. I am honored to have had the privilege to call this good man my friend!

Mark Emerson was America's great golf historian/collector as far as I know. He would acknowledge my comments, desires on memorabilia, or anything else pertaining to golf at a moment's notice. I have had the greatest respect for this classy man, I doubt if anyone can replace his knowledge, reverence, and contacts in the world of golf collecting. I have no doubt his knowledge far exceeded golf because of his love of history. Every time I look at my extensive British Open(The Open) collection acquired from Mark, I will remember him automatically as the one who made that possible........Dr. Gordon Stuart

Mark was one of the classiest and most honorable men in the golf collecting world. I learned a lot from him and we became friends. We had a mutual respect for each other that he would consign some of his best items in my auction. He was always a joy to speak with and touched so many lives. He will be sorely missed.

When I was preparing my book about great golf collections, I contacted Mark to ask whether he would be interested in participating . Without a moments hesitation he immediately invited me to visit his home in Jupiter and shared his collection as well as providing an interview about how and why he was able to amass the finest collection of rare autographs of golf champions that extended back well over a century. He was very generous with his time and we quickly shared our passion for golf's treasures. His collection was unprecedented. Dick Donovan, a renowned collector in his own right, told Mark that no one else had ever come close to amassing such a world class series of autographs, signed letters and photographs of the worlds greatest golf champions. It was unique and one-of-a-kind. Mark took special pleasure in visiting the championship golf courses where many of the champions from his collection had savored their victory. He felt a special bond with the champions when playing there, based on owning a small personalized reminder of their persona. He was a true gentleman in the finest sense of the word. We'll miss him dearly. Dick McDonough

I'm so sorry to hear this. Mark was a terrific man and a mentor of mine. We communicated as recently as a few weeks ago when the hurricane hit his area. I am lucky that he was a part of my life. Rest In Peace Mark.
