Martha L. Hammond

Hammond Martha L. Hammond, age 50, died Monday, September 26, 2016 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. Born May 6, 1966 in Columbus, she was a 1984 graduate of Thomas Worthington High School where she played basketball and softball. She played softball at Capital University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1988. Martha worked as a Chiropractic Assistant at Healthfirst Chiropractic for 15 years, she also worked as an instructor at Columbus Gymnastics. Martha enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of the Duke Blue Devils and Cleveland Browns. She loved dogs, going fishing, gardening, cooking, and playing cards. Martha had a very outgoing personality and would always lend a helping hand. She was a loving wife and mother. Preceded in death by her father-in-law Julian Hammond. Martha is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Justin; sons, Tyler Wayne Hammond, Brett Jordan Hammond; parents, Gerald and Bonnie Schmidt; mother-in-law, Mary L. Hammond; brother, David (Bert Ponce-Schmidt) Schmidt; nephews, Jake and Adam Schmidt; brother-in-law, Robb (Mary Jo) Hammond; nephew and niece, Grant and Alli Hammond; and many other extended family and friends. Family and friends may visit 3-8 p.m. on Sunday at Peace United Methodist Church, 235 Diley Rd., Pickerington, OH 43147, where a funeral service, officiated by Pastor Walter Schmidt and Pastor Elaine Sturtz will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday.
