Joshua Brown Obituary
Joshua Douglas Brown, 9, of Belleville, Ill., died on June 2, 2013, peacefully at home with his family after his life-long battle with brain cancer.
Joshua loved SLU basketball and was an honorary member of their team. He enjoyed watching Phineas and Ferb; playing with his many toy figures and traffic signs; and eating M&Ms and pizza. He was a student at Whiteside Elementary in Belleville, Ill. Joshua and his family are members of Grace Church, Fairview Heights, Ill. He was a long-time patient at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, where he developed many special friendships with the staff.
Joshua was an inspiration to many, to live without complaint, never give up and love others. God used him in an amazing way to influence many people during his short life.
Joshua is survived by his parents, Doug and Rhonda, nee Schwaegler, Brown; his sister, Allison; his grandparents, Doug and Vickie Brown, Marcia Schwaegler, Scott and Cathy Schwaegler; his aunts and uncles, Randy (Lesley) Schwaegler, Jon Olson, and Ashley (Dustin) Richards; and his cousins and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.kasslyfuneral.com.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Grace Church, Fairview Heights, Ill., with Pastor Hal Santos officiating. Interment will be in O'Fallon City Cemetery, O'Fallon, Ill.

Words of sympathy are very hard to express at a sad time like this. Josh was a very brave and much loved child. I worked with his grandmother, Vickie, at Johnson County Community College and know how much she loved him. He touched many lives in the short time he was with us.

We sat next to Josh at a SLU basketball game and he made such a wonderful impression on us. We were deeply saddened to hear of his passing, know that heaven has another angel. He was an inspiration to all of us.

I live next door to Sherry and Joe Militello. Sherry shared her love for Joshua and his family many, many times. Grief is a price we pay for love. There will be one bright star shining in the night sky for Joshua, who will always be in your heart.

With Deepest Sympathy to the Brown Family. I was first Blessed to care for Josh in the nursery at Grace Church. He was always a very happy and good natured little boy and an inspiration to never give up in rough times. I believe that God puts people in each others paths and I am thankful that God put me as one of chosen to be a part of Josh's life.God Bless!

We are Vickie and Doug's neighbors and we aways enjoyed seeing Joshua when he came to his grandparent's house to visit. He was always so happy to be there and always said hello to us! Such a wonderful, brave little boy, so full of love and happiness. Our hearts and prayers are with you all during this very difficult time. We will miss seeing Joshua, your special Angel in heaven.

I am sorry for your loss but heavens gain
I was extremely touched by your son in the times I met him and your family. I will be praying for you guys. I know Jake thought so much of him and how he influenced him. It is better to influence people in such a short time than to live a lomng life and not leave a mark on anyone's life Well done good and faithful servant Josh.
