Mary E. DeVore

DeVore Mary E. DeVore, passed away on October 28, 2013 in Carson City, Nevada after a brief illness at the age of 91. She was a good soul. She was a thoughtful mother who listened and accepted her children and their imperfections. She was an understanding wife in her 66 year marriage to Robert V. DeVore. Born the fifth child to Joe and Margaret Tebben on September 1, 1922 in Upper Arlington Ohio, Mary attended Our Lady of Victory School. She shared an especially close relationship with her beloved sister Coletta. During the War, she worked for the state of Ohio's Auditor and volunteered at the USO where she met and later married her husband. Over their years of marriage Mary and Robert worked, raised four children, and lived in numerous cities. While in Columbus raising her family, Mary worked at Doctors Hospital West and Upper Arlington High School, retiring after twenty years. After stays in Ramona, CA and Fredericksburg, TX, Robert and Mary settled in Carson City fifteen years ago. Mary enjoyed people and found pleasure in reading extensively usually four books a month for the last ten years. She gardened bright colored flowers and lived life with a hearty laugh and a fun sense of humor. Mary is preceded in death by her sisters Odelia, Margaret, Coletta, and by her brother Leroy. She is survived by her husband, Robert; sons, Robert, Mark (Carol), and David (Crista); and her devoted daughter, Victoria (Jeff) with their collective 11 grandchildren. Service will be held at the Walton Funeral Home in Carson City, and burial at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, Nevada.
