HOLLOPETER Mary Jane "Mac" Rising Hollopeter, 73, of Ft. Myers , Fla. former resident of Lancaster, Oh., died Friday, July 14, 2006 at Mt. Carmel St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville, Oh. She was a graduate of Goucher College in Maryland with a Bachelors Degree with a focus on Chemistry. She taught chemistry for 20 years in Virginia Beach, Va., Upper Arlington, Oh. and Lancaster, Oh. She was a member of the St. Michaels and All Angels Episcopal Church in Ft. Myers, Fla. and former member of St. Johns Episcopal Church in Lancaster. Mac was elected president of the National Altar Guild of the Episcopal Church in June, 2006. In 1975 she was given the Outstanding High School Chemistry Teacher Award for the Central Ohio area. She was a past president of the Lancaster Classroom Teachers Association, former board member of the Fairfield County Cancer Society and the Fairfield County United Way, and very active with the Lancaster Festival until she left Lancaster in 1990. She was involved with the Columbus Museum of Arts and helped run the museum restaurant, The Palate. While in Sanibel, she was a member of the Captiva Yacht Club and the Power Squadron. She is survived by daughters, Leigh (Steven) Svoboda of Lancaster, Oh. and Susan A. Rising of Worthington, Oh.; sons, Russell B. (Doreen) Rising of Lancaster, Oh. and Philip A. Rising of Columbus, Oh.; 2 grandchildren, Melissa Ashley Svoboda of Lancaster, Oh. and Justin Kyle Rising of Reston, Va. She was preceded in death by her husbands Robert Turner, George R. Rising, and Robert Hollopeter, father Bradford McDowell and mother Mary McDowell Clark. Caring cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Fathers G. William Pursley and Donald Fishburne officiating. Burial to follow in Forest Rose Cemetery, Lancaster, Oh. There will be a gathering of family and friends Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, Lancaster, Oh.
