Marybelle Simmons Obituary

Simmons Marybelle Shaw Simmons, 83, of Westerville, Ohio, died at Columbus Colony Elder Care in Westerville, Ohio at 10:18 p.m on Monday, February 4, 2013. Marybelle was born on January 12, 1930 in Greensboro, North Carolina to the late Horace T. and Dorothy (Folk) Shaw. She was a 1948 Graduate of Rawson High School. She retired from Otterbein College in 1992 as a cashier in the Treasurer's Office after 23 years of employment there. Marybelle married David Simmons on May 20, 1951 and he survives in Westerville. Also surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth S. "Lissa" Wolfe (husband, Lewi) of Hebron, Ohio; a son, Robert S. Simmons (wife, Linda) of Westerville; five grandchildren, Jerrod (Leah) Wolfe, Jonathon Wolfe, Christopher (Sarah) Simmons, Steven Simmons (fiancee, Sarah Armbrust) and Matthew Simmons. Marybelle was a member of the Church of the Master in Westerville. Spending time with her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed the family 4th of July celebrations. She was also an avid gardener. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2013 at Moreland Funeral Home, 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville, Ohio. Additional visitation will also be held at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay, Ohio from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2013. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at KIRKPATRICK-BEHNKE FUNERAL HOME with the Reverend Christopher Cravens officiating. Burial will follow in Tawa Cemetery, Union Township, Hancock County, Ohio. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Central Ohio Chapter, 1379 Dublin Road, Columbus, Ohio 43215-1089 or to The David R. and Marybelle S. Simmons Endowed Scholarship, in care of Otterbein University, Attention: Howard House, One South Grove Street, Westerville, Ohio 43081.
