Matthew Behling Obituary

BEHLING Matthew Carl Behling, 42, of Columbus, died March 6, 2005 after a short illness. He was born January 25, 1963 at Mennonite Hospital in Bloomington, Ill. He attended Worthington Schools. He worked parttime for the Dispatch Consumer Services for the past 7 years. Matthew was an avid backpacker, hiking much of the Appalachian Trail and bicycling the Blue Ridge Parkway. He was very creative, writing, performing and recording his many songs, writing poetry and painting with oils, acrylics and watercolors. He won many awards for his poetry and painting. He was a member of the Worthington Area Art League. Matthew is survived by his parents, John and Nancy Behling of Columbus; brother, Paul of Oakland, Calif.; and several uncles, aunts and cousins. Matthew will be cremated and a gathering in his memory will be held at a later date. If anyone cares to make a donation to one of the many Native American groups in his name, please do so. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, social workers and other staff of The Ohio State University Medical Center for their patient and loving care in attending Matthew.
