Mattie Dillard Obituary

Dillard Mattie Belle (Stewart) Dillard was born on December 13, 1920 in Danville, Virginia, to the late George and Mattie Stewart. She departed this life on Thursday, February 4, 2016 in Chandler, Arizona surrounded by family. Mattie is preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence Dillard Sr., sons Charles, Lesley and Terry Dillard, foster daughter Barbara J. Lewis. She leaves to cherish in her memories, sons, Robert, Clarence Jr., Alfred (Jakki) of Chandler, Arizona, Alphonso, Douglas, George, and Christopher Dillard; daughters, Naomi Tucker, Brenda Dillard and Marva Green; 25 grandchildren; a host of great grand grandchildren; special cousin, Cassandra Hodge; son-in-law, Elder Edward Lewis; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Service will be held on Monday, February 15, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Christ Memorial Baptist, 1330 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43227. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service. Professional service provided by GARY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 867 S. James Rd., Columbus, Ohio 43227.

So sad to hear of Mattie's passing. She was a fine, upstanding Christian woman and I was proud to have been able to speak to her over the years. Mattie was my cousin; my grandmother, Nora, was her aunt.She will be missed.
