Max Friedman Obituary

Friedman, Dr. Max J.
1918 - 2018
Dr. Max J. Friedman, age 100, passed away on September 25, 2018. Preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Friedman, parents Jacob and Ida Friedman, son Scott Friedman. He is survived by his son, Jerry (Sue Topolosky) Friedman; daughters, Terry (Dr. Leonard) Janis and Jo-Ann Saunders of Dallas, TX; daughter-in-law, Dr. Fran Friedman; grandchildren, Julie (William) Levine, Dr. Jeffrey (Emily) Janis, Erin Moran, Lindsay (Jason) Ricart, Jami (Nathan Washburn) Saunders, Adam (Eve) Saunders and Lauren Friedman; 14 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special thank you to his caring aides – Josephine, Breonna, Jestina, - and to all the personnel and administrators at Creekside who took care of his every need. When Max and Margie returned to Columbus after 26 years in Florida, he always felt so welcomed and was immediately taken in by his large circle of friends and former patients who made each day a party. He was Captain in the Dental Corps in the European Theatre during WWII from 1942-1945 and received 5 stars for the battles he participated in. He was born in Cleveland, went to John Adams High School and attended the Ohio State University where he graduated from the College of Dentistry and practiced in Columbus for 40 years. He moved to Boynton Beach in 1989, where he lived his stress-free life playing golf and bridge and having multitudes of friends. His quiet demeanor masked a man with a keen mind and wit and his trim appearance belied his 100 years, thanks to his frequent trips to GNC. Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm on Thursday, September 27 at Epstein Memorial Chapel, 3232 E. Main St. Burial will follow at New Agudas Achim Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Creekside at the Village on Thursday from 7-9pm. Due to the holiday, Shiva will be observed on Wednesday, October 3 at the home of Terry and Lenny Janis from 6-9pm. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to The Alzheimer's Association www.alz.org, Leukemia And Lymphoma Society www.lls.org or charity of donor's choice. Dr. Friedman was my dentist from the time I first went to a dentist as a child up until he retired. He was wonderful. I still remember his hole in one trophy from his office. I always enjoyed seeing him.
