Michael Eichner Obituary

EICHNER Michael Joseph "Nathaniel" Eichner, 62, died November 30, 2012 at his home in Eugene, OR after a 10-month illness of brain cancer. He was born July 9, 1950 in Columbus to Herman J. and Margaret Schrock Eichner. He married Susan Marie "Maria" Reynard on July 19, 1986 in Indianapolis. He graduated from Our Lady of Victory School, Bishop Ready High School and attended Ohio University. Michael was a master woodworker whose eye and hands crafted many pieces of beauty including cabinetry, turnery, furniture and the coffin in which he was buried. He was predeceased by his father in 1960. Survivors include his wife; son, Nicholas; daughter, Margaret of Eugene; daughter, Maureen of Indianapolis; his mother, Margaret Mooney and step-father, Patrick Mooney; sisters, Christine (David) Berger, Lucy (Jeff) Rains and Molly Eichner, all of Columbus; brother, Phillip (Christine) Niedzielski-Eichner of Oakton, VA; mother-in-law, Gladys Reynard; brother-in-law, Alan (Pat) Reynard of CT; and eight nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held December 3 at St. John the Wonderworker Orthodox Church in Eugene. Burial was December 4 at St. Herman of Alaska Monastery in Platina, CA. Memorial contributions may be made to the monastery Michael "Nathaniel" helped build on Spruce Island, AK. Make checks to New Valaam Monastery, P.O. Box 90, Ouzinkie, AK 99644.

Dearest Maria, Maureen, Margaret & Nicholas, I was so sorry to hear of Michael's passing. I wish you were in Ohio, so we could be there for you - Helen called this morning, or I wouldn't have known. God bless her. I still miss you all - life changes, but know we are united in prayer and the hearts of Jesus & His Mother.
