Michael Q. McCarty, age 69, of Grove City, passed away Monday, December 3, 2018 surrounded by his family. Mike was born in Zanesville, OH to the late Robert L. and Mary McCarty. He graduated from Bishop Rosecrans High School and Ohio University. Mike enjoyed and found success in his 42 year career in mortgage lending. He spent over 20 years as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Mike enjoyed any home improvement project he could find. He could often be found riding his bike with his loyal dog, Gem, in tow, looking for his next house to rehab. His greatest joy was his family, especially his daughters. Most recently, he relished holding his long-awaited first grandchild. He was known for his quick wit, generous heart and kind soul. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant son Matthew Q. McCarty and brother Thomas McCarty. Mike is survived by his daughters, Michelle (Mathew) McCarty Sampson and Madison McCarty; their mother, Connie Hall McCarty; granddaughter, Colleen Sampson; brothers, Robert L. (Cindy) McCarty, Jr and John J. McCarty; sister-in-law, Leta McCarty; and many dear nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends 1-3 and 5-7 PM Friday, December 14 at the Schoedinger Grove City Chapel, 3920 Broadway. A Funeral Service honoring Mike's life will be held 11 AM Saturday, December 15 at First Unitarian Universalist Church, 93 W. Weisheimer Rd., Columbus, OH 43214. Rev. Eric Meter officiating.
