You, Michael Brooks, so beautiful and unassuming and lovely. This time of year is full of you, pretty flowers, freshly cut grass. I have said it a million times....I miss you every single day of the year and have never ever never stopped hoping and praying that one day the back door would open and it would be you, grinning. I miss you and love you siempre y siempre, your girl JS

Happy to celebrate fathers day today on behalf of the greatest dad in the world. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you. I know you are watching out for everyone and will always be around in some way. You were the jack of all trades and always will be. Rest easy man. FlyAwayHome

Today would have been your 53rd birthday. Michael, you are the love of my life, the best friend I have ever known, and not a minute goes by without some precious thought of you. My world will never be the same, because with you I finally understood what it felt like to be loved...all the way...and to love. I am thankful that God allowed me to be the one you spent your last days with. I loved you with all my might, always will. Yup, you are mine and I will always be your girl. Siempre y siempre

I knew Mike and grew up with him in Findlay, live in Worthington currently and used to run into him now and then. Just found out of his passing this evening from another childhood friend. I am at such a loss for words. He was a caring, beautiful soul with a great talent for art as well as making any one feel welcome and at ease. I am still in shock and know he will be greatly missed by everyone whose life he has touched! I only regret that I didn't know sooner so I could have said goodbye and shared a story or two. Rest in peace my friend and prayers of peace to his children and fiance. Julie Weitz Walsh, Worthington, OH

Although I didnt really know Mike, he always seemed in a positive, good mood. Working at the zoo I had the pleasure of running into him quite often and he never had a problem sharing a warm hello or smile. Mike you will be missed by many!

I had the pleasure of working with Michael for over 15 years on many types of signage projects. He was my "go to sign guy" and we became friends as well. He always spoke so proudly of his children, always! I will miss his wit and his charm, and his ability to artistically create what I explained in words. Eric and I will always have a great memory of fishing with Michael up on Lake Erie two years ago - - a perfectly blue sky and a relaxing walleye dinner afterwords. I will always be grateful for having known Michael, a true gentleman.

This week many will have Mike in their hearts and remember a beautiful man who touched their lives. Today, I am remembering a beautiful boy who's heart and life I was most blessed to have grown up next to. All the kindness, love for animals, joy of life and exploration - Mike possessed at a very early age.
Mike grew up in the days when our parents could utter, "Be home by the time the street lights are on...." and that was our passport to the universe - and Mike was my comrade in arms.... Literally! We spent countless hours setting up shooting galleries for our B-B and pellet guns. -Our backyards became race courses for our go-carts and mini bikes --and the streets surrounding Clifton Avenue were our domain for kick the can, red rover and rocket launches. Yes - while we watched men walk on the moon, we were sure that a mouse could survive its' own launch... if only that parachute would have opened. (sorry Mickey)
Mice, gerbils, snakes, broken birds, and a "fixed" baby skunk were only a few of the critters that Mike introduced me too. The weekend I watched over his THREE baby raccoons - I learned the valuable lesson of just how tricky such an undertaking can be, and how patient our parents really were with us. (Who would have guessed what damage three little bandits could do to a room overnight?) Anyhow, long before Mike became involved with his Zoo duties, he was teaching me how tadpoles really would turn into frogs and if you could just get the cat to sit still for long enough - he would be the perfect model for his latest pencil sketch.
Growing up beside Mike McMahon was probably one of the greatest treasures I have ever received. He possessed so many skills and talents and was so eager to share them. Looking at the wonderful life he created for himself, it is amazing to see how those same traits blossomed to bless his family and friends as an adult. While the years and miles certainly separated us after after our "formative years Findlay" -- I will carry his memory with me with forever-- and the boy that became the artist who sketched so much of the foundation of my life.
For those of you he had to leave far too early I give my greatest condolences.

We knew Michael from the time you all were at the Arcadia United Methodist Church. We always enjoyed his company with a ready laugh and gracious spirit. Our son, Curtis, saw Michael at the Columbus Zoo not long ago and had a chat with him. We are so sorry for his passing from this life into the next. You have our best wishes.

Michael was a great guy, a talented and admired artist and for us at Galleria Evangelia a good friend. WE and our clients looked forward to his visits with Locke the screech owl, during our Earth Day Celebrations. We will miss his upbeat and positive energy and friendship.
