Michael Nitz Obituary

Nitz Michael L. Nitz, 62, passed away January 11, 2017 at the James Cancer Hospital after a very difficult battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Mike was a Jack of all trades and Master of all. He loved the game of golf and played regularly. Mike was first and foremost a Family Man. He dearly loved his family that survives him, his loving mother, Joyce Nitz; Rebecca "Becky" his loving wife of 40 years; his two perfect brown eyed girls, Melissa (Ryan) Blackman, Abigail "Abby" (Jason) Smith; his son, Jonathan Nitz; grandchildren which were the joys and inspirations of his life, Shaylin, Brooke, Alexis, Pyper, Bryson, Hadley, Wyatt. Mike was preceded in death by his father John Nitz, brother Steven Nitz, sister Terri Lynn Nitz. Mike was a member of the Powell United Methodist Church, Ohio Trucking Maintenance Counsel, Central Ohio Transportation Group, Ohio Public Transit Authority. The family will receive friends on Thursday January 19, 2017 at the POWELL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 825 East Olentangy Street, Powell, Ohio 43065, where a Celebration of Life Gathering will be from 4-7 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted to the MAEDER QUINT TIBERI FUNERAL HOME, 1068 S. HIGH ST., COLUMBUS, OH 43206, 614-444-1185. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations in Mike Nitz's memory may be made to the Acute Myeloid Leukemia fund at the James Cancer Hospital, c/o OSUCCC James Development Office, 660 Ackerman Road, 6th Floor, P.O. Becky and family, Thinking of you on 1/11/23. Looking back through time, it doesn't seem like that long ago Mike was around Hillsdale and I followed him with a load to Bardstown, Ky. he helped line up for me. Then again, it seems like an eternity since hearing of his passing. Hoping you are all doing well.

Only found out today that Mike passed away. I have fond memories of him and the news is very sad. In the obituary, it would seem that he lived his life as a very blessed man and for that I'm happy. God bless and keep his family.

Becky & Family, Joyce & I are sorry for your loss. Since your moving from Hillsdale area I have often thought of Mike and you. I will always be thankful for the friendship given by Mike when we were trucking, I can't help but smile when I think about Mike and you. Growing up I remember my parents reminiscing of times with Mike & Becky. They played an integral part in my parent's relationship in their younger years. Over time they lost contact, but they remained in their hearts. We lost Dad on Easter. I find comfort knowing Dad & Mike can now catch up after all this time.
