Michael Rockey Obituary

Rockey Michael Allen Rockey has left this Earth, but will always remain in our hearts. His parents, Nancy and Robert; his brothers, Daniel and Matthew; and his sister, Devon; will keep their memories of their son and brother alive and close to them each day. Mike's family and friends may find comfort in remembering his bright blue, beautiful eyes, his culinary masterpieces, or his creative talents that turned out beautiful pieces of art. He could fix almost anything and he always had something interesting to talk about. Mike's infectious laugh can still be heard in our memories and his love for helping people can still be felt. His nieces and nephews will miss their "fun uncle" and his sisters-in-law will miss having him in their lives as part of their family. Our time with Mike was far too short, but our love for him will keep going and will never fade. We are deeply saddened to no longer have Mike here with us and our family will forever feel this loss. We love you Mike, and we miss you very much. You will always be a part of our family and we will never stop remembering you. Rest In Peace. Mike's immediate family will be holding a private celebration to honor his life.

I knew Mike for about 10 years. He spent many holidays at my house. It was great to have him around. He was a wonderful cook, but of course you know that already. I think of him and miss him. He was a good person.

I worked with Mike at the old Danville Carwash in the late 80's/early 90's. I always enjoyed working with him when we were scheduled together.
He loved his family. I remember him telling me about a Christmas trip they all took to somewhere exotic (Bora Bora or Fiji or something) where they stayed in huts over the water and Santa delivered gifts via jet ski on Christmas morning.
I also remember how excited he was when his little brothers baseball team advanced to the Little League World Series and how proud he was of his other brother being admitted to law school. Devon, I know he was proud of you too. I just don't remember any specifics!
I bet I haven't seen Mike in 20-25 years. The last time I saw him, he was in the newspaper for just getting finished with culinary school and cooking a meal on his engine (if I'm not mistaken!)
I still live in Danville and think about him when we walk our dogs past the old site of the car wash.
You'll be missed, Mike. RIP.
My condolences to the family. (I've met you all a time or two)
