Michael Sullivan Obituary

SULLIVAN Michael F. Sullivan, April 7, 1942-January 29, 2007. Michael F. Sullivan passed away following a sudden illness on January 29th upon returning from a family cruise. He was surrounded by loved ones at the time of his death. He was a graduate of Gilbert High School, Winsted, Connecticut, Yale University, and the University of Chicago Law School. Throughout his education, he maintained a high level of academic achievement. Michael was a senior partner in the law firm of Bricker & Eckler of Columbus, Ohio, where he practiced law for more than 40 years, specializing in securities law. He was considered an expert in his field by his peers; he was a mentor and friend and, in that context, he will be most sorely missed. He was an avid traveler, reader, and a member of the Shamrock Club of Columbus, Ohio. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend who enjoyed life to the fullest. His beloved wife of 44 years, Jerrie, pre-deceased him in 2004. He is survived by his three daughters, Kirsten of Hilliard, Ohio, Kate of Portland, Maine, and Megan of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, Brian Sullivan of Torrington, Connecticut; and four grandchildren, Patrick, Emily, Nathan, and Michael. He is also survived by his loving girlfriend, Diane Crossland, who brought much joy to his life. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3rd at 1 p.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 313 North State Street, Westerville, Ohio. In accordance with his wishes, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to International Rescue Committee, www.theirc.org or P.O. Box 98152, Washington, D.C. 2009-8152 or to CARE, www.care.org. Arrangements by O'SHAUGHNESSY FUNERAL HOME, 405 E. Town St., 221-2311.

Dearest Kirsten, Kate and Meg,

Dad called to tell me of Uncle Mike's passing. Such a tragedy so soon after Aunt Jerrie's passing.

Seems like such a short time (to me) between their passing, but then again, wasn't it yesterday that we all met again after thirty years of separation? Wasn't it yesterday that we said "Goodbye" to Grammy? Wasn't it yesterday that Aunt Jerrie and I were comparing back scars? Wasn't it yesterday that Uncle Mike and I were fighting over the last stuffed quahog?

My sympathies go to the three of you and your families.

As For everything there is a season,
And a time for every matter under heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die;
A time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
A time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to seek, and a time to lose;
A time to keep, and a time to throw away;
A time to tear, and a time to sew;
A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate,
A time for war, and a time for peace.

To the Sullivan Family, We live across the street from your parents house. We had just moved in and had met your Mom when she suddenly passed away. She was kind and welcoming. Your Dad was so nice. We would exchange greetings when coming and going. If there is anything we can do to help please let us know. We can easily take care of mail, and or other things with the house. Take care, Kathy and Jim Schroeder 781-1154
