My first job was working for Monique back in 1973-74. My dad worked with her at Rockwell. I took care of the poodles and helped occasionally with the grooming. My favorites were Louie and Martini (so named because she snuck him in her purse to a bar and he snuck out to take a drink, so the story went). She had an incredible life story. She also took in many Vietnamese refugees and I learned a lot about them as well. We had great parties! She was a lovely woman and I still think of her and tell her stories.

Dear Patricia and family, had i known your mother passed i would have attended the funeral! I would have tried to bring Faywrae my silver toy poodle with me. Your mom had a collection of artsy type friends and she herself changed many lives. She helped Jeff Dawson airplane crash survivor get his companion standard poodle Rhett who died in 2010. I recall 1996 driving from Atlanta to Ohio to get our pups. We spent the night at your moms. You were a little nervous about your mom invite strangers into her home! Monique assured you we were friends! This was understandable! Tina Siddle came over the next day and I got up the nerve to ask Monique for a silver girl from the standard litter. Monique knew each pup personality in the litter and one girl stood out was HUGE! Monique said, "SHES A MOOSE!". (LOL) I had purchased my silver toy Faywrae the year before 1995 and your mom was fine with me taking a second pup that day. Those standards were named by Monique. She named them Rhett and Scarletta! Both very much loved pets and they were taken care of as if on the nations endangered species list! Jeff and I appreciated your moms poodle knowledge over the years. Monique would ask where Faywrae was and Jeff would tell your mom Faywrae is here she is fine. Fayware aka Fayrabi, aka Fifi etc...I still LOVE that dog! I drove your mom to poodle club of america a few times and Monique gave me a glimpse into the professional world of poodles! Just wanted to tell you that your mom was a exceptional woman and i respected her. I am so sorry for her passing. The world has changed and dog breeders would find it tough to continue the hobby. I finally got my cattery kennel license in Forsyth County GA and i cannot breed dogs! I gave up! I retired my poodles on premise and they were are all here until they become poodle angels. I live my responsibility to my pets every day. This is just who i am. Your mother was the same a wonderful person who loved her dogs. I learned from the BEST who was your mom! X0 God Bless.

Aimee and Patricia......
For some reason, during the past few weeks, I have been thinking often of Monique and to my sorrow, I found her obituary on the web.
I called her a couple of years ago and we had a wonderful time chatting about old times when I lived in Columbus. She said she was going away for a long time but I didn’t understand what she meant. I pray her passing was peaceful.
Patricia, I would groom dogs with your mom in the basement in the 70’s. I remember Louie, the big black poodle, and Mr. and Mrs. Fum?(unsure about the spelling) and how I would share dinner with everyone after grooming the dogs. I think of those days more often than not and I miss them.
Aimee, I don’t know if you remember me but you and I had a “bout” with the police officer when we were on our way to a dog show. I think I was speeding and we made up a “white lie”.
My brother was a dentist in Columbus at that time, Dr. John Di Maccio.
My 86-year-old mother is still with me but my father passed away at 93 years last year.
Aimee and Patricia, always remember that she really has not left you but is at your side forever. I will keep her in my prayers as well as all the rest of your family during this difficult time.

Dear Patricia, Michele and Tu,
We were out of town when your lovely mother passed away.
I worked with her for many years in the Logistics Publications Dept. at North American Aviation/Rockwell International.
I was a Technical Writer for Maintenance and Flight Manuals. She was our Editor.
Nothing that was not exactly right got past her!
I will always remember her saying:
"It's not right - take it back and fix it."
My sympathies and regrets are with you.

Dear Patty and Family, My deepest sympathies! Monique was a HUGE part of my teenage life. Living next door to her, working for her; those years of being her friend certainly influenced who I am today. She taught me so much and I loved her dearly.

It is a great honour to have known Monique!
She was refreshingly outspoken and precise in her opinion.
She had a stunning sense of humour strongly depicting her European heritage.
I am proud to say that I was the one and only German who had the privilege to own two Freelands. Monique will be missed badly, but her memory will live on through the Silver Miniature Poodle.

Without Monique My life with the most beautiful Poodles wouldn't have begun. Through Monique I came to know Jytte Pfanner, and Lilleba. I live in Germany and have always phoned Monique to talk to her. Am only one year younger than she was and now due to many Physical problems, am no longer able to care for a Poodles or even drive May she still have beautiful Poodles up in Heaven.

To Moniques Family
It is with sorrow I hear that Monique no longer is among us.
I have known Monique for many years, and I have had 2 great silver poodles from her. The first one came to Norway in 1982.
I was on a visit to see Monique in 1989, and she came to Norway a couple of years later, and we had a great time together. I learned to know Monique as a wonderful person with lot of passion for her silver poodles, and as a very helpful and kind person. I will miss her a lot.
My deepest sympathy to her family.

Dear Patty and Mimi,
Ever since Suzanne very kindly told me of your Mother's passing, I have been thinking about you and your family.
Your Mother was wonderful woman who touched the lives of many with her encouragement, words of wisdom and incredible generosity.
I was always amazed how she managed to turn the unimaginable adversity of her earlier years into such a productive life - two beautiful daughters, world class silver miniature poodles, the pilot's handbook for the B1 bomber, sanctuary for overseas immigrants (myself included) to name but a few of her accomplishments.
I was very lucky to have known such a strong and unusual woman.
Please take care of yourselves.
Linda McFadden.

We will always remember Monique as one who adored her silver poodles. She will be missed but her poodles will live on.
