Nancy Gregory Obituary
GREGORY Nancy "Catherine" Smith Gregory was born February 22, 1914, Jackson County, KY to David L. and Ruth (Robinson) Smith. She was raised in Hamilton, Ohio by David and step-mother Nannie (Allen) Smith. Catherine was one of twenty children born to David, Ruth, and Nannie Smith. She was baptized in the Webster Avenue Baptist Church in Hamilton, Ohio and was a subsequent longtime member in the Reeb Avenue Church of Christ in Columbus, Oh, and later was a very active member in the Riverside Baptist Church of Ft. Myers, Florida and their mission church the Lee Boulevard Baptist Church of Lehigh Acres, FL, serving as a bus minister, and in many home missionary endeavors. She was an active volunteer for Calvary International Ministries, Inc. and volunteered weekly for 10 years in local prisons with the Overcomers Christian 12 Step program for inmates. She is a recipient of the ANNA AWARD for her devotion to Christ and His Church and for 15 years of prison ministry which included taking in ex-inmates and the homeless, caring for them and writing to those still in prison. She was a retired business woman, having owned several family businesses in Central Ohio from 1940 - 1970. Catherine's door was always open and her coffee pot on for her family, friends, and business associates. Catherine was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Paul Gregory, parents, brothers Paul Smith and Ed Adams and baby sister Martha Susan Smith. She is survived by daughters, Paula Kaye Gregory and husband, Woodrow Moore, Lana Faye and husband, G. Richard Hollenback; former son-in-law, William Hollenback Sr. of Ft. Myers, Florida; grandsons, Gregory A., G. Richard (Yvonne), Robert L, Andrew (LaShawnda), William J. II, Paul D. (Gina) Hollenback; granddaughters, Catherine P. Burford, and Nancy E. (Joseph) Lasaponara, all of SW Florida; 18 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; sisters, Eva Marcum, Oma (Damon) Retherford, Pearl Huff, Georgie Markham, Bonnie Carey of Hamilton, Ohio, Helen Opal and brother Jack Robinson of Richmond, Indiana. Family will receive friends Monday 6-9 p.m. at GRAUMLICH & SON FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High St., where service will be held Tuesday 10 a.m. Interment Concord Cemetery.
