Witchey, Nancy
1931 - 2019
Nancy Ann (Harper) Witchey, age 88, passed peacefully on August 19, 2019 at The Kobacker House, Columbus, Ohio. Nancy was born on February 15, 1931 in Malaga, OH to Herman and Marie Harper. She graduated from Beallsville High School in 1948 and Wilmington College 1960. Nancy was an elementary school teacher in the Columbus Public School system until she retired in 1987. After retiring, Nancy enjoyed working in the bakery at The Anderson's. Nancy will be remembered for her sense of humor, playing a wicked game of euchre, and mostly as a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and Aunt. Nancy attended hundreds of sporting events for her children and grandchildren for over 50 years. She was a lifelong fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and vigorously studied the Bible as a parishioner of the Dublin-Powell Church of Christ. In addition to her parents and three siblings, she was preceded in death by her great grandson Caysen Joseph Clime. She is survived by her four sons, Mark (Jan) Witchey of Columbus, OH, Kent (Nina) Witchey of Santa Barbara, CA, Kip (Cathy) Witchey of Dublin, and Kurt Witchey and Melanie Li of Powell, OH; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Friday, August 23 from 5-7 p.m. with a service to celebrate Nancy's life on Saturday, August 24 at 10 a.m. RUTHERFORD CORBIN Funeral Home, 515 High Street, Worthington, Ohio with Pastor Bryant Myers officiating. Burial to follow at Dublin Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the Dublin-Powell Church of Christ, the staff at Abbington of Powell, Ohio Health Hospice, and Kobacker House for their care and support. I was so sorry to hear of Nancy's passing. What a wonderful lady she was. I always got a smile when I would see her walk into the Bakery in the early mornings! I knew the day would go well, and there would be laughter and fun, but good old hard work too. She was a rock and could show the "kids" in th department what a day's hard work was always about. She was so well liked by everyone in the store who knew her. It was a sad day when she quit, but she deserved her time to watch all the football she wanted, and to spend time with her beloved family and friends. Thanks for the great memories Nancy, and the privilege to have known you. RIP

Nancy was a great Christian friend! I remember her sense of humor and compassion for others. I enjoyed playing euchre with her once a month for many years. Praying for all family as you grieve her loss.

Nancy was a wonderful neighbor who opened her arms and heart to us and welcomed us as a new neighbor last summer. She shared actives with my wife and with their activities at the Dublin Recreational Center, also sharing the ladies luncheons with her. We have missed her during her time away from us these past months. She will be greatly missed by all her neighbors and friends.

To all the Witchey Family. What a Wonderful lady Nancy was. I always enjoyed growing up with all the boys on 161. I talked with her often in her later years. Such a joy. Celebrate a Great Life

Whenever Nancy would tell me her back hurt, I would always ask her if she was making meatballs again. She commented a few times that her back hurt when she made meatballs. When I read that she had passed to get her just rewards, I said Nancy has gone to Heaven to make meatballs and I bet her back won't hurt anymore.
She was a wonderful, caring, giving person and I thank God that I met her when she began attending the Dublin Powell Church of Christ. And she knew her Bible and she loved her Lord
and her Family. We always enjoyed our time together. And we enjoyed going out to lunch together and after one of my surgeries, Nancy took me to P T. We both spoke about our Teaching and she was truly a good friend, and a
Wonderful Christian woman. I will always miss her, and remember her with love. Karen S. Gilbey
