Pamela Savely Obituary

Savely, Pamela
1947 - 2018
Pamela Sue Savely, 70, of Jekyll Island, formerly of Burlington, Vermont and Columbus, Ohio, died at her residence on Jekyll Island, Wednesday, February 7, 2018, after a yearlong battle with cancer. At Pam's request, no formal services are scheduled but instead a gathering of friends will be held in Jekyll this winter, and in Burlington this summer. Born December 6, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio to the late William and Dorothy Savely, she became a Registered Nurse in Ohio and then moved to Vermont where she was employed at the University of Vermont Medical Center for ten years. During her years as a nurse she took courses at the University of Vermont, and in 1981 graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. She passed the CPA exam and for two years she worked for a national accounting firm in Portland, Maine. She returned to Vermont to work with Gallagher Flynn & Company, and retired as a partner to start her own consulting firm. She was an avid golfer, played competitive fast pitch softball in her younger years, and was a #1 Fan of Ohio State. Pam had been a resident of Jekyll Island for the past four years. Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Ed Gallagher of Jekyll Island, GA; three step sons, Chris Gallagher of Victor, ID, Bob Gallagher and wife, Sue of Atlanta, GA and John Gallagher of Whistler, BC; two grandchildren, Emily and Jack Gallagher; two sisters, Debbie (Mike) Beckman of Westerville, OH, and Jodi Mains of Columbus, OH; niece and nephews, Mike (Maren) Beckman, Kristen (Bobby) Weimer and Tyler (Alex) Mains; and four great nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to United Way of Northwest Vermont, 412 Farrell St. Suite 200, South Burlington, VT 05403, or United Way of Coastal Georgia, P.O. Box 877, Brunswick, GA 31521. Sorry to hear of Pam's passing Ed.
I know she had a tough fight with cancer before when she was in Burlington and I was so glad to hear she had beat it then.
I am so sad that she had to fight it again and this time lose the battle.
I know what it's like to lose someone close as you well know with Alecia's passing and know what you must be feeling at this time.
Please be assured that my heart and thoughts are with you at this sad time.

Peter and I offer our sincere condolences. Pam fought the good fight. We enjoyed many fun days on the golf course. Win or lose, she would always remind me that any day on the right side of the grass was to be celebrated.
May she rest in peace.

Ed and Family,

Pam was an amazing person. She was smart and acted with more common sense than most people I know. Pam had a great sense of humor, was a real competitor, had amazing strength, perseverance & was fearless when it came to speaking her mind. Pam was a fighter who took on cancer not once but twice & yet always showed an optimistic attitude & appreciation of life. A woman I always admired and am fortunate to have been able to call a friend. Keeping everyone in thoughts & prayers. May happy memories remind all of us of how fortunate we were to have had Pam in our life.
