Paul Palmer Obituary

PALMER Elder Paul E. Palmer Sr., born in Cedartown, Ga., age 64, of Columbus, Oh., became the angel in heaven that he was on earth, on Thursday, April 5, 2007, at OSU East. Paul retired from the City of Columbus water treatment department. He was a faithful member at Apostolic Faith Temple for over 20 years. During his membership he was an Elder, Deacon, Trustee, Sunday School Teacher and Treasurer for which he was affectionately known as "The Money Man". He was also honored and committed to overseeing the AFT Brotherhood Choir. His melodious voice will never be forgotten or replaced. Paul was a trusted friend to all that knew him; his honesty and fairness won the respect and hearts of many. His word was his bond; if he said it he meant it, and if you didn't get it, he was quick to say "tell her/him what I said!" His attentive listening always made you feel as if you and your problems were the most important issue at hand. Always giving of himself regardless of his own needs. Paul was dedicated, thorough, forgiving, and understanding, truly one of a kind. He is predeceased by parents John and Aruelas Palmer, son Ricky N. Palmer, 5 sisters and 8 brothers. He is survived by loving wife of 45 years, Dollie J. Palmer; sister, Elizabeth Sewell, Rome, Ga.; step-brother, Charles (Juanita) Nickelson, Atlanta, Ga.; sisters-in-law, Betty Palmer, Daisy Palmer, Josephine Palmer; children, Angela (Murray) Harrison, Kenneth (Mary) Posey, Cynthia (Earl) Harris, Paul Jr., John (Denise) Palmer, Thomas (Sheri) Palmer, Tyrone (Charmaine) Palmer and Paulette (Kevin) Smith; 25 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends, including special grandchildren, Aleasia (Jonathan) Garnett, Shemeka Gibson, Jeremiah (Corina) Posey; and special buddy, Lil' Paul. Celebration of Life Service 12Noon Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at Apostolic Faith Temple, 1634 E. Main St., Columbus, Oh. Bishop N.D. Jordan officiating. Family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. until time of service. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements by J. MARTIN SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1173 E. Hudson St.

Uncle Paul,
Even though we only saw you a couple times of the year, it was still an honor and privilege to have known such a Godly person. Your smile, your laugh, and your songs, were so much inspiration to us down here in GA. Auntie, you and the rest of the family are still in our prayers. I will always be part of the Palmers!!

Uncle Paul,
What can I say? I remember the summers coming to stay with you and Aunt Dolly and all your beautiful children you always all of you welcomed me and Kelly with open arms and always showed us so much Love. Although you had 9 kids two more didn't make a difference, you always treated me with respect and Love and you were always smiling and singing and lets not forget the cooking you did for everyone. I Love you so much still , you will never know...I miss you so much but I will never forget you I think about you all the time along with my mom. Although you are not with us I still admire what you and Aunt Dolly had as a couple you two are an inspiration. Aunt Dolly I love you, hold your head up and know that he is still with us. He was a good man look around and see the legacy he left us with. Thank you for all the encouraging words you said to me. Uncle Paul we loved you but God Loved you best, sleep on and take your rest. We will all see you again in Heaven.

Uncle Paul was one of the greatest men that has ever lived. He was an AWESOME example of a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, son, etc. He was a heart that walked around giving, showing and singing about love.

I try not to ever leave a person or end a phone call without saying "I love you." This is something I learned from Uncle Paul the last few years of his life. He said we do not know when or if we will see or hear from that person again. Therefore, we should try to remember to let that person know that we love them every chance we get.

Uncle did not have a selfish bone in his body. He suffered for years, endured the pain and discomfort for years just for those of us that love him.

He would travel to Rome when he was not feeling well at all just to visit us. Not only would he come to the state we are in, but he would go from house to house to visit family and friends whose health was much better than his. WHAT A MAN!

I have always said that if I should marry again I want my mate to be just like Uncle Paul. Well I guess that is why I am still single, because I just do not think there are any more men like him. I pray I'm wrong (smile), but I haven't met one yet.

There are days I think about Uncle and can hardly hold back the tears. I can sometimes hear a song that uncle song or a song that sounds like he could "WORK" if he song it, and get tearful.

Auntie Dollie is a jewel too. She and Uncle Paul have been a great example of what a couple should be. You could tell that they loved each other dearly.

These two people have poured more into my life than they could ever imagine.

Auntie and cousins (the children and grandchildren) Know that you are in my prayers. I know you have days that are hard to get through because I have them. But remember the same God that took care of Uncle will take care of you.

Love you much!

Grand-dad,
Words can't express how much you are missed. I miss your smile and your words of encouragement. Although the time we spent was short lived, there wasn't a day that went by, where I didn't feel like part of the family. We truly miss you in the flesh but we know you are here watching over us. Continue to be our angel in heaven and until we met again, We love you!

Your grand-daughter,

Corina

Dad,
Although you were my father-n-law, and I'm married to your "baby", you were the greatest dad any man could ask for. I miss you.

Dad,
It's been a little over a year since I've last seen you in the flesh, but you're always there in my heart. I know I will probably never be able to express how you not being here has affected my everyday existence, but I'm sure you already know. I'm not mad that you had to go, because I know that now you are truly happy, and resting in paradise. The only way I am able to go on is to remind myself that I will be seeing you again. And by the way, I've been praying to God through Jesus about a few things and he hasn't gotten back to me yet, so could you please just "Tell 'em what I said?"

As the days grow longer, and the still of the night approaches, when you are in your quiet time alone, when the good memories of the approach, don't be sad. God has given all of us the spiritual foundation that was instilled and taught to us through the example of this beloved Elder. My father-in-law was a rightous man that his love was the glue that help keep us all together. He has helped us all through troubled times and helped mentor us through Jesus Christ in victory. Tonight as I am in my home, quiet, thinking about the goodness of Jesus, I am reflecting upon God's love and how I am glad that God allowed me a gift to know my friend, traveling companion, singing partner, Head Deacon, fellow Director, but most of all, God's Elder for this time. Cynthia and I miss you Dad.
