Phyllis (Gardner) Holcomb, formerly of Fellows Avenue in West Jefferson, OH, quietly moved permanently to heaven on March 15, 2021. She lived a wonderful life that lasted 99 and a half years. Phyllis Geneve was born in Warren, PA to James and Harriet (Northrup) Gardner on August 24, 1921. She lost her Father at age six and her Mother raised her and her two sisters alone. She grew up in Ridgway, graduated High School, and went on to attend Business School. Phyllis met the love of her life, Clyde Holcomb, and married him in 1949, starting a loving partnership that lasted 55 years until Clyde's death in 2004. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her two sisters Beverly Dendorfer and Ceora Bester. Over the years Phyllis survived raising three extremely rambunctious children, cancer, the loss of her love, and a broken hip, living on her own until recently when she moved in with her daughter at Buckeye Lake. She loved reading, traveling, and camping with Clyde, family, and friends, doing word search puzzles, watching Alex Trebek, and watching the Ohio State Buckeyes. She many times lamented the fact that she outlived so many of her friends, and enjoyed it when we reminded her that she 'was older than sliced bread' (Google it). Survived by sons, Steven Holcomb (Cynthia) and Ronald Holcomb (Robin); daughter, Deborah Douglas (Mike); grandchildren, James Holcomb (Lori), Bryan Holcomb, Christina (Holcomb) Barnette (Jeffrey), Elizabeth (Holcomb) Wilson, Adam Denman (Carla), Jennifer (Holcomb) Kershner (David), Tyler Oberle (Shirley), Ashley Oberle-West (Josh), Jonathan Oberle (Jessica); 28 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12Noon-1pm on Friday, March 19, 2021, at the RADER-McDONALD-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 1355 W. Main Street, West Jefferson, OH 43162. Funeral Service will immediately follow visitation at 1pm, with Pastor Larry Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Galloway, Ohio.
