Rex Shindle Obituary

Shindle Rex N. Shindle, 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, September 27, 2014. Rex was born on June 26, 1931, to Martin L. and Martha (May) Shindle in Huntington, IN. The Shindle family moved to Worthington, OH and he graduated from North High School. On May 13, 1950, Rex married the former Joan Chaffin. In his younger years, Rex was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and in later years was a part of Grace Polaris Church, serving as an usher. He was an avid Ohio State football fan and ushered in the "Shoe" for 31 years. He was employed by Big Bear Stores, Carnation/Nestle Company and retired from Advantage Food Brokers. Rex is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Joan; children, Karan (Mark) Collins, Martin (Cynthia) Shindle and Brian (Judith) Shindle. Blessed by Pops' love are seven grandchildren and their spouses, Adam (Karen) Collins, Aaron (Jamie) Collins, Andrew (Lesley) Shindle, Timothy (Rachel) Shindle, Tiffany (Michael) Edwards, Chauncey (Scot) Cianci, Lindsay (Chris) Suster; 15 great-grandchildren, Liam, Michaela, Tessa, Caleb and Abby Collins, Maddy, Michael and Graysen Shindle, Isaac, Grace and Eve Edwards, Jacob Cherry along with Brooklyn and Connor Cianci, Rosemary Suster; aunt, Dorothy Pfefferle; numerous nieces, nephews and many life-long friends. Rex is preceded in death by his parents and a brother and sister-in-law Harry and Georgia. A Celebration of Life will be held at Grace Polaris Church, 8225 Worthington Galena Road, Westerville, OH 43081 on Sunday, October 5, 2014, 2:30 p.m. with visitation 30 minutes prior. Pastor Jim Custer will officiate. Arrangements are being handled by NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, OH 43231. Private burial.
