To the entire Heine family: I was extremely saddened on hearing the death of Dick. He was an amazing man, and a good friend during my years in the OSUMB '71-'73 as well as afterwards as a TBDBITL Alum '73-'07. His music will live on as a living legacy for years to come. His spirit will live as thousands listen to the recordings of The OSUMB and those fortunate to hear the BAND in Ohio Stadium
("by far the Finest in the Land.") All this largely due to Dick's music and love of the OSUMB all his life. May God grant you eternal rest Dick, and May His perpetual light forever shine upon you.

I've known Richard since the days of TBDBITL rehearsals in Rehearsal Hall, the old horse barn, in the late forties. What a talent and a gentleman. What an incredible legasy he has left behind at his beloved Ohio State.

Playing in the Marching Band from 1947 through 1950, with the arrangements of Dick Heine, was the highpoint of my experience at OSU. Dick's arrangements were great when I was there, and still are.

To the Heine Family:
My sympathy on the passing of a great man. What a pleasure to have played all the OSU school songs with the flair and excitement that only Dick Heine could enthusiatically write. It is a sad day for Ohio State, the Marching Band and the music community. I only wish I could see him now and say thanks for the special memories.
