Richard Herdt Obituary
1926 - 2017
Richard H. Herdt, 91, a master carpenter and Navy veteran of World War II, died August 10, 2017 at his residence in Reno, NV, after a long illness. He was born April 27, 1926, in Columbus and had been a lifelong resident of Central Ohio before retiring to Reno with his late wife, Betty, in 1997. He worked for many years building and remodeling homes, performing work mostly in Upper Arlington and Bexley. He was an accomplished horseshoe player and a longtime member of the American License Plate Collectors Association. Mr. Herdt was preceded in death by Betty in 2004. He is survived by sons, Tom of East Lansing, MI, and Timm of Davis, CA; daughter, Terry Ruppert of Reno, NV; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Headley Cemetery in Jefferson Township. Arrangements by EVANS FUNERAL HOME, 4171 E. Livingston Ave. www.evansfuneralhome.net

Dick was on of my dad's (Leonard Turnbull) favorite business and camping colleagues. Dad and Dick worked on many homes together and, along with their wives, shared many camping adventures together. Dick and Betty have been greatly missed since leaving Blacklick, Ohio.

He was one of my favorite Uncles, and I have quite a few! My family always admired him and all the things
he could do. He's the last of my 12 uncles and 11 aunts to leave. I plan to catch up with all of them when
I get to the other side. Until then, my uncle Dick will be very much missed.
