1958 - 2018
Richard B. Kolodgy, age 59, of Westerville, OH, passed away Monday, May 14, 2018 after a six year battle with multiple myeloma. Worked for ARC Industries Workshop for 38 years. Participated in the Special Olympics for over 40 years where he was selected to be on the International Special Olympics softball team in Baton Rouge, LA. A member of the Franklin County Square Dance Group. For the last three years he sang with the Harmony Project performing at the Ohio Theater and Nationwide Arena. Preceded in death by his father Donald, grandparents Charles E. and Alice Kolodgy and Brice and Edith Connell. Survived by his mother, Kathleen; sisters, Sharon (Ed) Dempsey and Linda Miller; nieces and nephews, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Dempsey, Leslie (Kenny) Maxie and David (April) Shicks; great nieces, Addison and Emilie Dempsey, Lily and Rosie Maxie, Anna and Sarah Shicks. A special thank you to Dr. Efebera and the nursing staff at The James and Dr. Sundaram and the nursing staff at Zangmeister as well as Mike Milburn of Heartland Hospice. Friends may call at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville, Thursday from 5-8 p.m., where a service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. Rev. Kathy Currier officiating. Interment Blendon Central Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Special Olympics, 2879 Johnstown Road, Columbus, OH 43219.

Richard was an amazing man who always had a smile. We are so sad to hear of his loss but know he fought hard and is in a better place. He truly was a pleasure to care for and will always be remembered. Our hearts go out to the Kolodgy family

I am so sorry to hear about Richard passing. I had the pleasure of knowing him through the Harmony Project choir. We will miss his kind presence in our group. Please accept my condolences and know your family is in my prayers.
