Richard Langwasser Obituary
1931 - 2018
A Funeral Mass celebrating the life of Richard H. Langwasser, age 87, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 27, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 58 Granville Street, with Father G. Michael Gribble as celebrant. Richard passed away on Monday, July 23, 2018 at SharonBrooke Assisted Living in Newark, Ohio with his family by his side. He was born June 7, 1931 in Lancaster, Ohio to the late Henry Paul and Mary (Sullivan) Langwasser. Richard was a 1950 graduate of St. Mary's High School in Lancaster, Ohio and later graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He represented his country by serving in The United States Air Force-Airborne Divison. Richard was also a firefighter with the Columbus Fire Department for 23 years before retiring. He was a parishioner at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and active with St. Vincent DePaul in Newark. He is survived by his eight children, Richard (Diane) Langwasser, Jr. of Reynoldsburg, Mary (Steve) Sech of Grove City, Patricia "Patty" (Gary) Childers of Heath, Mike (Taryn) Langwasser of Delaware, Bill (Diann) Langwasser of Heath, Joe (Liliane) Langwasser of Thornville, Stephen Langwasser of Newark and Susan Newell of Heath; a brother, John "Jack" Langwasser of Michigan; a sister, Mary Lou Langwasser of Florida; 21 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by three brothers Paul, Reagan and Jay Langwasser. Family and friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark, where the Columbus Fire Department Honor Guard will conduct services at 6 p.m. followed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance at 6:15 and a Vigil Service at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Richard's name to St. Joseph's Indian School, 1301 N. Richard was one of my absolute favorite neighbors on Locust St. We all spent many evenings outside at the other neighbors house enjoying one anothers company until the early hours of the morning. He will be greatly missed!

Dear Patty and family,
Please accept our deepest sympathy on the passing of your dad. I just now seen it on my iPad. Larry and I have been under the weather lately and would not have been able to come to funeral home anyway but I'm sorry we didn't see it sooner. I know he was sick off and on but it's never easy to lose a parent , really liked talking to him when we had the yard sales together he was a nice guy .
