Robert Davis Obituary

DAVIS Robert "Bob" Davis, age 71, of Dublin, passed away Friday, September 14, 2007, at his home after an extended illness. Born June 18, 1936, in Plain City. Korean Conflict Army Veteran. Retired from Shaffer Distributing, Columbus after 20 years of service as the Operations Manager. Member of the Plain City Presbyterian Church. Was an avid, active and enthusiastic fan of Columbus Hockey starting a season ticket holder in 1969 with the Columbus Checkers, Owls, Seals, Chill and Blue Jackets. He most currently was an usher for the Blue Jackets. Unique fan of both Michigan and Ohio State Athletics. Enjoyed camping especially at the Poor Farmers Campground in Fletcher, Ohio with his Blue Jacket golf cart. Preceded in death by parents Shell and Mabel (Van Hoose) Davis, sister Judy Flowers – 2000. Survived by loving wife, Mary Alice (Weeks) Davis, whom he married November 28, 1954, in St. Paul Lutheran Church, New Rome; twin daughters, Kay Lynn (Eddie) Bokras of Youngstown, Ki Lynn Carter of Dublin; granddaughters, Holli McClarren, Lacey McClarren, Carly Davis-Carter; great-grandson, Shane Fletcher; namesake, Scott Davis Hilbert. The family will receive friends 2-5 p.m. Sunday at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 202 E. Main St. (Rt. 161W), Plain City. Funeral service 10 a.m. Monday, September 17, 2007, at Plain City Presbyterian Church. Pastor Don Hilkerbaumer officiating. Burial Forest Grove Cemetery, Plain City, with full military honors conducted by the Union County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, contribution may be made to Plain City Presbyterian Church, 231 E. Main St., Plain City, Ohio 43064 or to Home Reach Hospice, Ohio Health Foundation, 3724 Olentangy River Road, Suite G, Columbus, Ohio 43214. twas a sad day for me to learn of his passing, we had so many great times together what with golf hockey and many other friends. our prayers are for the family to continue his spirit and giving qualities that measured his worth durong his life. we will miss him. sincerely dsn snd vicki.

I will miss Bob at NW arena. He first sat in my section and then I sort of persuaded him to be an usher. He was very well liked.
