Dr. Robert M. "Doc" Johns

JOHNS Dr. Robert M. "Doc" Johns, 85, of Wooster, died Monday, September 11, 2006 in Wooster Community Hospital. Friends will be received at the McINTIRE, DAVIS & GREENE FUNERAL HOME, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster, Oh. on Wednesday evening from 5-8 p.m. with a masonic memorial service at 4:30 p.m. Service will be held at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, Thursday, September 14, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. David Wilcox officiating. Interment will follow in Wooster Cemetery. Born June 17, 1921 in Minerva, Oh., he was the son of Frank McKinley and Isabelle McGoughan Johns. In addition to working 35 years as an orthodonist, Dr. Johns was also a noted horseman. Member Wooster United Methodist Church. Served his country in the Army Air Corp during WW II as a navigator and bombadier instructor. He was a 32nd degree mason and member of Masonic Lodge #33 F&AM of Wooster. Member of Wooster Rotary, Board member and Past President of the Wayne Co. Crippled Children. Board member of the Wooster Salvation Army. Member of Wooster Elks. Member of the American Dental Assoc., Wayne-Stark Dental Assoc. Member of the OSU Alumni Assoc. Member of the Ohio Horseman's Assoc. and United States Trotting Assoc. and the Ohio Breeders Assoc. Surviving are his wife, Lilyan Shultz Johns, whom he married May 6, 1941; his children, Claudia (John) Mazurkiewicz of Warrenton, Va., Robin (Bruce) Edwards of Davie, Fla., Robert M. Jr. (Darlene) Johns of Wooster and Kelly (Gregg) Gillespie of Norton; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. Those who wish may make contributions to the Wooster United Methodist Church, 243 N.
