Robert was always such a sweet kid. My Husband Bob Matheny and I would visit his Dad. If Robert was there he always had a joke to tell us. My heart is with his family members.

My heart hurts knowing you are not here anymore Rob. I’m still in shock about your passing. You were my brother and my friend who was there for me to help pull me up out of the darkness. I only wish I could have helped you like you have helped me. Thank you for being my friend. Semper Fi my brother. Rest easy, Rest In Peace Rob.

My deepest sympathies to Robert's family. Words cannot truly express the sadness in my heart nor the grief I feel for you.
In the 6 years that I've known Robert, he has always brought positive energy to even the most mundane situation. His infectious smile, laughs and joke telling would immediately make your day brighter. He seemed to have an endless list of hobbies that would make others ask how he has this kind of drive/energy. That was Robert.
I also knew him as a proud Father, Husband and Marine. A real stand-up guy that will be sorely missed.
Glad to have known you Sir!

Robby was a great person, especially to my siblings and I. He used to baby sit us when I was 11. We had such a blast and looked forward to babysitting day. We would build forts outside and camp out when Beth lived on Fannin Hill in the cabin, he literally had me watch every scary movie ever made and I was so scared but he made everything better. I remember the day he enlisted and how hurt I was he was leaving us behind, I'm feeling the same way now. I have been thinking about Robby a lot for the past few months. The last time I got to see him was when he came home to Elliott County and took my brother and I to Buffalo Wild Wings in Morehead and had me eat some of the hottest wings ever and I felt it for like a month. I'm really going to miss you Rob. There is nothing but good memories I have of you. Love you Robby. Love and prayers from my family to yours.❤
Love you Aunt Beth! Stay in touch.

Robert was a great friend and coworker. I always knew when he would be coming over to visit our department as he was usually whistling a tune as he walked down the aisle way between our desks. Rob could strike up a conversation with anyone and had the brightest smile when talking about his family. He will be greatly missed to all that knew him.

My heartfelt condolences to the family of Robert Layne. I knew Robert from work. I worked a few cubicles over from him, but in different departments. Due to our close proximity we would see and talk everyday. Sometimes just a hi, while other times joining in conversation about what ever. He had his tight knit group of coworkers who he was always in conversation with. Such a great group. So usually our conversations were about what he was eating and where ordered and picked up lunch, or about motorcycles. I'll always remember him for his outgoing, happy go lucky personality. May you rest in Peace. You will be missed by all of us who had the pleasure to know you and work with you.
