Ruth Hershberger Obituary

Hershberger Ruth H. Hershberger, 91, of Marysville died Sunday afternoon, March 31st, at The Inn at Halcyon Village after having her final communion and enjoying Easter dinner with her family. Ruth was born April 21, 1921 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana to the late Wilbur and Gertrude Wagner Renz, and was also preceded in death by a brother Paul Renz, and a sister Elizabeth Booth. She married the Rev. Ralph W. Hershberger on June 28, 1953 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Greenville, OH. He preceded her in death May 2, 2002. She was a 1938 graduate of Brewster High School and a 1943 graduate of Kent State University. She taught school in Lakewood, OH, Greenville, OH and Willshire, OH prior to coming to Marysville with her husband, Rev. Ralph W. Hershberger. After arriving in Marysville, Ruth taught at Trinity Lutheran School where she retired in 1988. Ruth continued to be active in her church and community through the years. She is survived by her children, Ruth R. (Jerry) Nicol of Marysville, OH, Paul J. (Jan Blue) Hershberger of Vandalia, OH, Mary M. (Kevin) Petersen of New Market, MD; nine grandchildren, Sarah, Emily, and David Nicol, Max and Sam Hershberger, and Kalin, Kate, Kara, and Kallie Petersen. Calling hours will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the INGRAM FUNERAL HOME, 975 N. Maple St., Marysville, 43040. Funeral service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 311 E. 6th St., Marysville with the Rev. Kathy Reiff officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund, Trinity Lutheran School, or a charity of donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
