Ruth Maynard

Maynard Ruth Maynard, of Grove City, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Bayfront Health in Punta Gorda, Florida on September 30, 2015 surrounded by her family. Ruth was born May 6, 1935 in Martin County, Kentucky, the oldest daughter of Albert and Mary Johnson. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Virgie Maynard, Ada Warren, brothers Alvin Johnson, Clyde Johnson, and Virgil Johnson, youngest son Willie Maynard. She married Herbert Maynard, the love of her life January 15, 1949. They resided in Kentucky in a two room cabin until moving to Columbus, Ohio in 1953 where they raised their six children. She worked for Truesdale Candy Company and was a homemaker. She enjoyed the outdoors. She spent much of her time camping, gardening, riding four wheelers, fishing and hunting. After retiring they spent summers in Vinton County and winters travelling to their home in Punta Gorda, Florida. She loved to dance especially with Herbert. Ruth is survived by sisters, Helen Bowens, Shirley Branham, Madgie Stepp, Bessie Pruitt, and Bonnie Collins; brothers, Willie Johnson, Delbert Johnson, Claude Johnson, Albert Johnson Jr. and Donnie Johnson; her children, Charles Maynard (Debbie) of Hilliard OH, Mary Louise Fluty (Doug) of Lake Suzy, Florida, Dorothy Pemberton (Stan) of Columbus, OH, Loretta Conkel (Neil) of West Jefferson, OH and Jimmy Maynard (Debbie) of Galloway, OH; grandchildren, Chuck Maynard, Connie Rose, Elizabeth Maynard, Samantha Keigley, Chris Fluty, Raymond Pemberton, Craig Pemberton, Lorie Cafagno, Allen Conkel, Renee Ballah, Tonya Mikulin, Tammy Lanning, Deidre Tose; 29 great grandchildren; numerous other family members and special friends. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 2-6 p.m. at O R WOODYARD SOUTH CHAPEL, 1346 S. High St., where funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment Obetz Cemetery. Special thanks to the staff at Bayfront Health in Punta Gorda, Florida for their special care during our mother's final days.
