Samuel Rubenstein Obituary

RUBENSTEIN Rabbi Samuel Rubenstein, age 89, passed away on March 29, 2010. Preceded in death by his wife Dorothy and brother Bernie. Survived by his sons, Joel Rubenstein and Martin (Hazel) Rubenstein; daughter, Sharon Fried; brothers, Rabbi Martin (Shirley) Rubenstein and Albert (Eleanor) Rubenstein; granddaughter, Eva Fried; and four great-grandchildren. Rabbi served Congregation Agudas Achim as its Rabbi for over 55 years. A graveside service was held on Monday, March 29 at New Agudas Achim Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Wexner Heritage House. Memorial contributions are preferred to Wexner Heritage House, 1151 College Ave., Columbus 43209. Dear Marty, Sharon, and Joel,
We heard the sad news about Uncle Shmai passing, and we just want to extend our deepest condolences to you and the extended family. May you be comforted along with the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem. Cousin Mona (Uncle Sonny's daughter), Tami and Neilan.

I have known Rabbi Rubenstein and his family for many years. I was Dorothy's hairdresser and I loved her dearly. I also cut the Rabbi's hair for many years. My sincere condolences to Joel, Sharon and Marty. Joel was very devoted to his parents and I know this will be hard for him. I am praying for the family.

Rabbi Rubenstein was my Uncle Shmai. I haven't seen him in years, nor have I been in contact with him or my cousins for that matter. I do want to send my condolences to my cousins- Marty, Sharon and Joel. I can vividly picture my uncle and can even hear his voice for that matter- even after all these years. As a child growing up, the memories I have of all the Rubenstein brothers and their families in their younger days will always be happy ones. Time and miles keep us apart, but every one of you are always, and will always be in my heart. May G-d bless you all at this time. Love from your cousin Sue Rubenstein.
