As I’m sure is the case with many other people that knew Scott, I am still trying to get my head around his passing. I got to know Scott when he joined the Jarden Team back in 2014, when he took over the Erlanger facility. Scott was very eager to learn the cutlery business, was a very hard worker, and certainly was instrumental in guiding that facility to where it is today.
As plant managers, we often got together for quarterly meetings and conferences, which usually ended with nightly get togethers of good food, drinks, and conversation. Scott often talked of the love of his family and his faith, sometimes not leaving others to get a word in edgewise. Scott always had a smile on his face but the times he didn’t, you knew to expect a joke or some comment that ended with his laugh.
The last time I saw Scott is when he personally flew to Maine to deliver my retirement gift. I think he was more excited to give me that gift than I was to receive it. I’m sure I will think of him every time that I use that rifle.
To Cyndi, and boys and the rest of Scott’s extended family, I want to offer my sincere condolences to each of you. As Christians, we believe that everything happens for a reason. I can’t even imagine what each of you is going through. Please know that we are thinking and praying for you every day.

As a leader, Scott offered a standard to aspire to. As a mentor, Scott was a great coach who always lent an ear, freely gave encouragement and support and always drove us to do more. As a friend , I looked forward to seeing him because Scott was always quick to laugh, waiting for the next joke and smiling through the toughest of times. I will remember Scott most however for the admiration he inspired because of the love he showed for his family. My deepest sympathy to Cyndi and the boys.

Scott was a great leader. He always had positive things to say to us all. He was never to busy to stop and talk or just say Hello. Scott was a very well respected man that we all thought very highly of. His big smile always brighten up the room. Scott talked about his family with love and laughter along with their fun family adventures.
Scott was a one of a kind that we will never forget.

Like many I was shocked at this undeserved tragedy. Scott was a hardworking - honest man. He was my client, and always had time to discuss the future, policy, and how you get better. He took time to listen to others, he saw the value in people, and gave his all. He was so appreciative of his career - grateful to Mike, where he started, where he was - and had a “bright future” with major upside. Scott often talked about his beloved family, he was awful proud! I cannot express the sadness, I will miss the connection. I hope his wife and children can find some peace with this loss. God bless all of you.

My wife, daughter and I met Scott and Cyndi for the first time at a private get together celebrating my niece prior to her departure to military bootcamp, eight hours before Scott’s passing. I spent the majority of my time at the party conversing with Scott, learning of his family’s journey that led them to Greenville, a city he was happy to call “home,” his love, admiration and thankfulness for his family, his love for his Buckeyes, and his perspective on how fast his life was moving forward. He joked about his inability to physically keep up with his sons, despite his desire and efforts to do so. Although our time with he and Cyndi was ever so brief, I left knowing the foundation of a new friendship had been started. Scott’s sudden and tragic passing is a reminder of the brevity of life and the importance of faith, family and friends. To Cyndi, Ross, Brandt, Nash, Randy, Diane, Dian, and Todd our hearts break for you; we continue to lift up prayers on your behalf for comfort and healing.

Words cannot express the joy and pride that Scott has given to our family. He was a truly wonderful person and will be deeply missed. They say that a picture says a thousand words. Scott was truly a family man and loved his family dearly. I wanted to share this beautiful photo of Scott's family. "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5:4
