Shelley Temple Obituary

Temple, Shelley Brazeau
1970 - 2020
Shelley Brazeau Temple was born February 14, 1970 and returned to her heavenly father on October 28, 2020. Shelley is the twin daughter of Kathleen and Donald Brazeau who have both preceded her in death. She graduated with a bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University in 1992. Shelley passed away peacefully with her husband of 21 years and her twin sister by her side. She lived a life of integrity, passion, dedication and kindness. She was dedicated to her profession, but the apple of her eyes, and her greatest joy and pride was her husband and her two children Brendan and Gabby. Shelley was a Nationwide executive, having served for nearly three decades providing outstanding leadership and service to members and leaving a lasting impact. Shelley relished her role as a mentor and earned the respect and adoration of colleagues across the company and throughout her career. She was well known for her commitment to mentoring the current and next generation of leaders. She was affectionally called the incredible SBT, for her commitment, her character and her bravery. Shelley is survived by her beloved family - her husband, Mike; her children, Brendan, and Gabby; her twin sister, Kelley Brazeau; her nephew, Aaron Hartley; her mother-in-law, Patricia Temple; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and her Nationwide family. A memorial service will be live-streamed Monday November 2 at 11am. http://rebrand.ly/shelleytemple We will forever adore and remember our kind, brave, fearless Shelley. We will stand strong knowing you are now watching over us. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, or the American Lung Association. To Mike, Brendan and Gabby, may the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.

Shelley has been an incredible friend and mentor. We could go for weeks without seeing or talking but when we did, it was like we just talked the day before. An amazing and remarkable woman that I am fortunate to have had in my life for over 20 years. Rest In Peace, the incredible SBT.

It has been a privilege to know Shelley for the past 20+ years. I have always admired her leadership and appreciated the opportunities I have had to connect / work with Shelley. When I think if Shelley I think of an extremely dedicated leader who devoted endless energy to making Nationwide better. Nationwide is better because of Shelley and won't be the same without her.

Dear Mike, Brendon and Gabby,
Shelley was such a fantastic mom! I always looked forward to seeing her when she came to school for you Gabz. Her beautiful smile and words of encouragement were a blessing. I will never forget when she provided that huge bag of mints for the class...do you remember that Gabby? I am so very sad for your loss, but rejoice in her home-going. You will see her again...but for now, I am so sorry for the deepest of pain you are feeling. Gabby, I hope you know that I am giving you a big hug from here. You are all in my prayers.

I am so saddened to hear of the loss of Shelley. I got to know the Temple Family when they moved back to Ohio. From the first day I met them, I knew there was something special about this family. Shelley, Mike, Brendan, and Gabby are some of the greatest people I have ever met. They welcomed me into their home and trusted me with their sweet and caring daughter, Gabby. Shelley was an incredible woman and I know that her impact in this world will live on forever. I pray for God's peace and comfort during this time.

So saddened to hear about dear Shelley. Shelley and Kelley in our core St. Brendan grade school and SJA high school pack of girl friends. We had a great group of friends and sorry we all grew apart after high school. Shelley always the smartest of the group, but never boastful, Always kind, gracious, giving, supportive to others. I’m sure her fight was graceful, brave and dignified. Many good memories of our core girl group at each other’s houses and Shelley and Kelley’s dad taking us to Phil Collins concert, we were laughing and singing all the songs. Sending love and hugs to Kelley and to Shelley’s family, you have a warrior of angel looking out for you now.

I’m retired a little over a year from Nationwide. I have, at different times while on the Design and Development team, reported to her through my boss and their boss. She was down to earth and easy to talk to. She came to our Canton office several different times so I did meet her in person. I’m shocked to hear this because she’s still young. I send my deepest heartfelt sympathy and prayers at this sad time to her family.

The news of her passing is just heartbreaking i had the privilege of working with Shelley for 5 years while she was Vice President of Nationwide's South Central region in Nashville. She was a fantastic leader and there are simply not enough adjectives to describe her ...smart, caring, kind, great listener, balanced, I could go on. She and Mike also became good friends and my thoughts go out to Mike, Brendan and Gabby.

The obituary was spot on.

I met Shelley nearly 21 years ago as an intern at NPIO. We were doing a project for her and she was sitting at a peers desk while at the training center. I introduced myself and through the next few months we developed a great relationship. I looked her up in call up months later and saw she was a high-level leader at Nationwide. She treated me as a friend and was so kind. Through my 20 years at Nationwide, we remained connected. When I left last year I sent her a note to let her know what a remarkable leader she was and how much I appreciated her. She sent me a note back to thank me as well. That’s who she was. What an amazing legacy.

One of the kindest humans I’ve ever known. She will be sorely missed. Thoughts and prayers for her family.

I had the opportunity to work for Shelley when I was at Nationwide, she was a fantastic mentor, leader, and caring person. She never forgot the importance of asking about family, and stressing work/life balance. Many years after I left Nationwide, we were on the same flight traveling and she still remembered the names of my children and our conversations were about our families. Shelley will certainly be missed!! My condolences to Mike, her children, family and friends
